Did it start after sitting 5 years?

Last week I posted on a 91 GS500 that's been sitting in my garage basically unloved - and not started or run...in 5 years.

Today I would spin the Wheel of Destiny and see if it would start. 

Went to Fleet Farm today and pick up a battery & dropped it in. Added air to the tires and pumped out the old fuel and put in some $3.86 per gallon 2014 fuel.

Turned ignition to on...(lights!) turned the petcock to PRIME then to ON... pulled int the clutch lever....hit the start button and...IT STARTED! 

Noticed fuel dripping from the fuel overflow tube,    a sure sign of a stuck float.    Rapped on the float bowls with a screwdriver handle    and the dripping stops.

Ran a little rough for a bit but started to smooth out and after a few blips of the throttle it started to run a little better. Took it out of the driveway and down the street which it seemed to like 'cause it ran better still.

Got back to the driveway and after dropping a little of Chevron's Techron into the gas tank and a few more neighborhood runs it's running better still.

Now to do some more maintenance...

Cool...you dodged the obligatory carb clean out bullet! 

Techron is good stuff as long as you don't go over 1oz per gallon

Good news. Sounds like it needs a few more  short / close to home test runs and then an nice long cruise!
