thanks krsa2000, i did the engine white and red as well ill post a pic soon

YouFancy77

so most of all my nuts and bolts where rusty and just dirty looking and i couldnt put them back on the bike like that so i sent out a bunch of stuff to get chromed and i just got the parts back the other day, they look awesome!!!!!

YouFancy77

so my rims where pretty dirty so i striped the paint off with aircraft paint remover so i could re-paint them and i found out that the whole lip of the rims under the paint was this nice chrome so im going to buff the chrome and get it looking new cause there are a lot of imperfections and then just re-paint the spokes and the inner lip.

and here they are after i got the imperfections out

YouFancy77

so also on the spokes of the rims there were a bunch of random letters and numbers that i didnt like so before i started re-painting them i sanded them off.

Shepa

Looking so sweeeeeet so far!

Maybe later change the OEM wheels for wire-spoked ones?

Sent from my toilet seat using HTC FartPhone

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes.
A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

YouFancy77

hey thanks Shepa, and thats funny you say that cause i have already been looking for wire-spoked wheels but i need the money to finish up the build but eventually i definitely will be changing the wheels.  do you know of any wire-spoked wheels that would be a straight swap?

Nice work!
Love the paint scheme so far, what colour are you doing the engine?

Btw, ignore the Buddha when he comes with his usual "anti café gs500" rant, & keep up the good work.

LOL, my ears were burning ...

Since he said it ... I'll suprise you by saying ... wll I cant ... Grrrr you ruined a beautiful 89 black ... sheesh, why dont you just paint a mustache on the monalisa.

Having said that ... it looks good. I'd have made the cowl section wider ... more new triumph boneville sized than GB500 sized ... Yours is a good intermediate ...
But bigger will have fit better (I think).

Cool.

so the clutch plates were pretty worn down so i got a new set and put them in, i also changed the washer and nut. and while i did that i cleaned out inside of the engine as much as i could.  I also changed the stator cause mine was burnt up.

oh ya and i changed the front sprocket

YouFancy77

so i got new speedometer and tachometer but the bracket that came with them are not long enough to reach where im bolting it to so i made a new bracket with an aluminum sheet i had in the garage.

so the right one is the one that came with the speedometer. so i made a cardboard template that was a little bit longer and then traced it on the aluminum.

heres the new one, and yes i did round the edges out and make it look nice and pretty but i dont have a pic of it finished.

so i did the same thing for the speedometer and here they are finished and in place

ShowBizWolf

Cool project and pics!!!   :rstar:

The red striping is very nice and those gauges are sharp.  I like how you went with the clubman bars... I've been thinking about getting a set of those myself but I just can't make up my mind since my superbike bars are only about 2 years old and they are really comfy  :dunno_black:
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

YouFancy77

thanks showbizwolf, ya the red striping took me a while to get it just right but it was worth the time. and for the bars i was going back and forth between the clubman bars or just a set of straight bars but i think the clubman look and feel better.

YouFancy77

so yesterday i started to put some of the chrome parts on and got the swingarm installed

Jim Knopf

Servus,

now you do you really bother to paint everything clean or polish and then you build such an old brake pump tuned!

Just as with the engine doors right and left on the motor housing.

In any case, once again an eye-catcher.

YouFancy77

Jim Knopf i dont even understand what you just posted some of it kinda makes sense but not really so i dont know how to respond to your post, sooooo thanks i guess???

YouFancy77

so im one of those guys that is always looking for stuff on the side of the road that people are throwing away or giving away for free.  I have actually built mostly everything in my garage out of free stuff.
the other day i picked up these lockers for free!!!

these white selves i got for free and the work bench i belt out of all free wood and free counter top

this work bench was half built on the side of the road for free with a bunch of free wood so i grabbed it all brought it home and finished it

i got this for free at work and built a welding table with this as the base

here you can see the base with legs i welded to it and a top frame so i can put a metal top on it for a welding table, then the metal frame you can see behind the welding table i got off the side of road and chopped it up and put a wheel chock on the end and now its my table i use to work on my bike, heres the best pic i have of it right now
