Went for a COLD ride.

I finally poured some Sta-bil in the gas tank, hey winter snuck up on me. So I had to go and make sure it was mixed properly.

I pulled the GS out of the garage and tried to start it up. It had been sitting for about a month and I had topped off the battery a couple of times during that time.

As I was cranking it didn't seem to be getting gas, even on full choke. I looked down at the clear fuel filter I had installed in line and it looked dry.

No, the gas is just really clear. I switched the valve to PRI (prime) and the filter filled up.

I'm sure after awhile the vacuum would have pulled the fuel through the petcock but the battery probably wouldn't have been too happy. Just a little tip for the bike that sits awhile.

Which brings me to the other point, I have GOT TO put the jet kit in that BIKE! I should have let the thing idle for about 20 minutes before even trying to ride it. Cold engine and my 240lbs, not a good combination. I didn't want to rev it too much since it was so cold. I eventually just gave up and let it idle awhile before I pulled out into traffic.

After seeing some slush on a couple of the back roads I decided to come back and wait for a little more thawing to take place.

Dana out.
