So somehow I managed to lose a stock bar end so I bought a new set and put them on however I noticed they are a lot lighter than the original as I beliebd they have a weight in them. Does this matter and why do the original have a weight? Cheers

depends. lots of weights are going from lead, to iron, and some bar-ends are even aluminum.. so maybe just a different material. are they OEM?

No the new ones are aftermarket I was just wondering if they needed to be heavy fit a reason

they just reduce the harmonic vibrations in the handlebars.. its really a personal choice.

if you're still getting vibrations. people have filled their bars with sand/leadshot/lots of weird things that are heavy but have moment.. so you could try that if the vibration isn't tuned down for you.

Twisted

As J Walker said weighted bar ends reduce the vibrations through your bars. Aluminium ones are more for crash protection and weight saving. I see you can actually buy delrin bar ends too now.
