Is anyone selling a shin kit for the GS500? Not sure if the year matters, but I need the shim kit and shim tool.

I did go through that thread, but when the quality of the shims were questions I wasn't too interested.

Someone oughta do this - In fact 10-20 people should.
Go to a junkyard.
Ask em where they put their junk heads.
Find GS1100, GS1000, GS850 and other assorted heavy weights of the 80's.
Yank the shims off those. You get 8 per head. 2X the GS'es need.

Finito.

Cool.

Only problem is that there is only one motorcyle "junkyard" near me and they done have parts for any GS's

10-20 of gstwinners needs to do it.
That would be the basis of a new "shim kit"
Then we need to keep the chinese aftermarket crap out of it.

I come up with all these cool theories. Then you guys can just go do it. Isn't that cool ??? No its not, its the easiest frucking thing to do. LOL. As usual, some dumb theories I come up with.

I think in doing your plan, you would mostly end up with a bunch duplicates of thicker shims.

Would it be too hard to pool some money and someone with a manufacturing contact ask them to make some new shims? I can't imagine they would cost much or take long as they are a pretty simple design. Would just want to make sure that they were of acceptable material.

We could order 10 or so of each of all sizes and restart a West/East coast kit. I'm sure someone will know of a reason why they can't be easily manufactured but I can't think of any. Please enlighten me.
Just got into Motorcycling. First bike- 1992 Suzuki Gs500e. Purple with Pink highlights baby!
