I purchased a K&N aftermarket air filter since the bike I bought did not come with an air box/air filter. The Suzuki tech I talked to said I needed bigger jets to account for the extra air flow or else the bike won't start. Do I really need the bigger jets for it run? I will not daily drive this bike as I'm putting the motor on a go kart frame so it will not see too much use

Yes you need to rejet it.
There are 2 carb designs, depending upon year. So you need to know what year the motor is from, or look in the carbs.
You can PM The Buddha, he sells jet kits and can get you set up with the right sizes based on your intake and exhaust setup.
Or you can do some research on here to see what others are running, decide what jets you need yourself, and order them from the dealer, or some place like jetsrus.com

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!
