I love my GS. Since i put the Katana 600 shock in there, i love that little bike even more!

But my fender was definitely a replacement and it was painted by noobs!

I can see bits of red under the "black" and it has no clear coat and hence no shine of any kind.

I was going to paint it the factory Pearl Novelty Black and use colorrite cans + clear coat to do it.

That is until i saw this thread http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58455.0

that orange fender is sick! i love me some orange.

How have you guys painted your fenders. Please share!

Not on a GS but I just painted mine using these special 2K cans (they have a two part paint with hardener in a second compartment that you pierce before using). the clear coat was very hard, I had to buy a polisher to get the final high gloss.

You think Pyrrhic victory is bad you should try Pyrrhic defeat!

I cut my fender waaaaay down and wanted to paint it the same blue color as my gixxer fairing. I went to ColorRite.com and ordered the factory color for the fairing in a spray can along with the clear coat they sell. I was very pleased with the quality!

I am currently working on a new fender that is still trimmed down at the sides but longer... also has the extender on it... it just has primer on it right now though  :D

What's this extender? Is that the thing that plugs into the holes on the back end of the fender? I am missing that it seems. I'm seriously considering this orange on the thread i posted with a nice white strip going down the middle.

when you say polisher? you mean like a compound or a machine?

My plan is as follows

Sand. Sand more. Sand some more probably.
Prime. Sand.
Paint. Wet Sand.
Paint. Wet Sand.
Clear coat. Wet sand.
polish.

Yes, the fender extender attaches using those two holes in the actual fender. I do not have a pic of mine yet but here is one I found on google for yaa

I did a vinyl wrap on my tank and fender. You will still need to do the bodywork, but the results are a little more manageable. If/when you don't like it, a little heat and up it comes.

that looks pretty cool!

did you buy it with the white stripe on it?

my gas tank has a dent in it so what i'd like to do is paint back to stock colors really.

but that vinyl wrap is slowly looking like a better and easier option.

i can also use it on my headlight and chin fairings to complete the look. Not sure I want to paint the headlight and chin fairing.

The vinyl has to be a good quality, Avery or 3m.  took me a couple of try's to get it right. Use knifeless tape for the cuts (it's like dental floss, it goes down before the vinyl, when the vinyl is laid down you pull the string and have a perfect cut.) A heat gun also makes it more pliable. some good videos on youtube. you'll have a gas-resistant finish when done.
the stripe was the easy part-Pepboys!
