Just finished replacing my springs with some progressives (along with some 15w oil).  Suprisingly easy to do with the information available on this site and a Clymers manual.  Took it for a quick spin around the neighborhood and it felt like a new bike, especially in braking situations.  (I should have done this a year ago, but I was chicken.)

Swapped out the stock shock a couple weeks ago, too.  Another easy mod thanks to the information on this site.  Had new rubber put on (BT-45s) last week.  I'm also going to take the MSF Experienced Rider Course in two weeks (rain or shine).  After that, me and the GS will be ready for some spring riding.

I almost feel bad for looking real hard at an SV1000.  If I get it, I might just have to keep the GS for track duty now that the suspension doesn't completely stink.

The GS is a really fun track bike. And you wouldn't have to worry about crashing your street bike.
Common sense in not very common.
