Although not much er could do... i do have an unset fracture atm. have to wait for it to calm down before ORiF. so not really much that can be done. frig tho this hurts like day 1 of fracture. unless tendons or ligaments are damaged any worse. or bone just shatters. i understand what my ortho has to do. frig tho. i hate waiting lol. cause the bone ends are picking up on this weather front coming in..

I dont drink anymore. unless my kidneys act up then i might partake of a beer.  last thing i need with 2 broken ankles 3 bones total is to be drunk lol. i.e. a round of drunken frogger a few years back scared me lol.

Think i messed up L ankle again. i GINGERLY stepped down into the den, SLOWLY felt the 2 fibula pieces grind on eachother my GOD this hurt.  foot is numb AN COLD ALONG with a burning sensation. an odd combination. the posterior of the shin feels like am wearing a soccer shin guard back there. and now the medial side of ankle joint is burning. Feels like day 1 again nearly slightly muted but that pain. no mistaking it. BUT hosp would tell me to go see ortho. who cant/wont do anything because its still not set and waiting for swelling to go down before procedure. other  ortho wont work on top of another orthos work. i seriously was taking it easy. used walker did everything i should have ( except the bearing weight part   a no no. my home however wont qllow wheelchair usage throughout. Keeping eye on this throughout weekend. if i have to ill wait til my ortho is on duty at hosp. and go then. hoping i dont have to go tho. weight down to 136. Didnt eat today. no appetite (pain). will try to eat though. will update   :"(

Just read through this lot. Man, could you have any more bad luck. With the way things have gone, stubbornness and perseverance are your best assets.

Foot still numb, cold and burning. aka nothings changed. i tryot o move my foot while its elevated so it doesnt totally go dead. ie fall asleep. will see a new level of pain tonight   with temps in upper 30s F. will update tomorrow on that. this will be my first taste of what winter shall feel like :"(

unpleasant days in ankle land. more info to come next few days. weight down to 138 with bracing on (4lbs?) its the lack of muscle. going to find a wading pool. can build up some muscle that way.

AMA i took a stand up shower, predomantly balanced on plate leg. got maybe a chance for 2 more before tuesday (  spinal cord stim trial setup) after that sponge bath until trial is removed. ( 5 to 7 days) which runs close to ortho on 2nd unless i go in earlier. ( going to try to hold on until then idk.) course if i shoot for say wed the 28th then ill be good. then there will be work on L ankle. prolly plate and screws. perhaps with a SYMB screw too idk. will see. more to come :S .

I'm not sure how much help this will be or whether it will apply to you, but....

I just had a hip replaced. Full replacement too, so for the better part of three months I have been unable to walk properly/at all. To take a shower I rented a special bench (a bath transfer bench) that went over the side of the tub and I could sit on it and slide over into the tub/shower and there take a shower and slide back out, all without putting any weight on my feet. It worked really well for me and I felt (and smelt) better.

Just a thought.

got one of these in home from mom when she was alive just the tub shower its pressure sucks. i had converted a 3x3 closet in bathroom to a stand up shower. although the bench WOULD fit in there. fun part is getting that thing out of the basement.

its not terribly heavy. since the ethra fiasco. i wont climb stairs ( left leg loses muscle control) ill crab crawl down, get the chair get it to landing turn it on its back, affix nylon rope to it (1/4" diameter) crab crawl up stairs then rope pull it up.

on a semi relevant note, trying to shake a chest cold before tuesdays procedure. this brought up an observation of mine over the years. cough medicines ( and flavors)
only one that didnt bite was grape dimetapp.
moving on, if it was red, it tasted bad but was tolerable, if it was blue it tasted bad but meh on tolerable. if it was green it was bad on both fronts.

Using the plastic chairs in the walk-in shower would work just as well as the bench because the bench's greatest attribute was that it straddled the side of the tub and eases the task of getting in by enabling you to sit down. A simple shower hose also means that the water can be directed to wash all parts of the body without any unpleasant bending or contorting.

Cool. this will work. btw your hip replacement, is it metal? i know the plate in R  leg is and in all likelihood one will be in L  too. ( Titanium) i thought in a humerous note, could walk thru a metal detector stark naked and still se it off. lol. THAT i wont do btw, just a random off the wall thought. anyhoo moving on, trying to shake a chestcold before tomorrows procedure. not flu thank GOD. ( no fever or bodyaches) just pain from fractures and arthritis (related to fractures)but tues. is the trial for the spinal cord stimulator. ( which will help with the diabetic neuropathic pain. And in this case the arthritis from the FX. BUT IT ( TRIAL) its leads are inserted into the lumbar region of the spine. trial device is worn on belt) they wont do it if flu or chestcolds however. so trying to shake it. ( this is done at my Pain mgmt docs office.)2 appts tomorrow.pm appt and the trial. cool thing, same location . delays though would not work, cause that usually kicks things out about a week. Ortho appt is a week from now. perhaps plating too depending on OP room availability. L ankle is all but numb atm so i think i can hold on til 2nd ( was tempted for earlier at TOC/ortho)but since FX is all but numb and i can still feel foot. ill try to wait.
. cause If chestcold thing doesnt pan out, it will develop into a progressive monkeywrench fiasco.
(cold throws monkeywrench into trial. postponement throws monkeywrench into ortho with the possibility of ortho throwing monkeywrench into woundcare, which would see the thrown monkeywrenches and throw one back at me lol.) situations like this i dealt with when i worked at pawnshop/jeweler at pawnshop. boss is like how the F*ck did you handle that? something i excelled at at the time lol.

(future plans  are to obtain my gia certification/along with the credentials for rolex and breitling ( all upper tier wristwatches) and go back into jewelry and watch repair. watches i can handle already. but i was self trained. so id void warranties if discovered lol)  anyhoo long winded P.S  lol. figure ive got a long recovery ahead of me . this may be the time to begin these studies (or if allowed, to take the certification exams) learned the old fashioned way as an apprentice.
