I was working on one of the local's GS last week/today etc.
I found a K&N SU 5580 in it - with a huge rip in it. The bottom rubber cap had a rip clean across the width of it

We replace it with a Hi Flo Filtro. Nice one, $11.96 and the best part - it was built better than a Suzuki one. With a nice perforated metal wall rolled and spot welded to itself making a nice "wall", spot welded to the end flange.

The problem was that it only was glued in @ the closed end. It would have been nicer if they had put a few holes in it and wire tied it to the wall. That way you're not relying on glue to keep the filter together.

Cool.

The filter cover o ring.  It was way too big.  Every time I tried to refit the cover it just fell out of the groove.

Sounds like the wrong gasket as the correct gasket(even bought from different manufacturers) fits quite well.
If necessary re-use the old gasket provided it's not damaged or deformed.

OK Oil filter, I was originally talking about air filter.
