Hello everyone im new to the board and have a problem hoping someone can find something i've missed because im about to open the gas tank and throw a cig in this thing its been plaguing me for about a week now, so i bought a used 2007 GS500 it's all stock from a guy bike ran great up until last sunday when it started dieing while at idle the bike will rev fine and doesn't act like its getting flooded but if you let it sit at idle it will continually drop til it dies from 1200-1400 rpm but you touch the thottle she'll race right up no problems far ive checked my petcock its fine open and closes and running bike on prime does nothing to change the symptoms and ive watched fuel flow so i know it works (sucked on the vac hose fuel ran and on prime with no vac fuel ran), ive cleaned the carbs deeply leaving no passage or nooks untouched, replaced all the jets and checked to make sure all are clear before installing, set float heights to 13mm checked myself 6 times, i have mixture screws set out 3 turns and carbs are sync'd, i've checked my fuel tank vent and thats cleared, even opened my fuel cap just to make sure and no differences, checked for vac leaks or intake leaks nothing even inspected everything thouroghly i can't find anything wrong and its driving me nuts.sorry for any run on sentences im just tired and thobbing with a headache, i will say when i bought the bike i had sooty plugs but i put new ones in and i've yanked them again and they look nice and brownish, also if i drain the bowl she'll start right back up again no problem and the air filter is clean.

When were the valves checked last? I don't think that's the actual problem, but always important to know.....

And is the float height really 13mm? I'd check the float height with the clear tube method - the fuel in the tube should be pretty much level with the float bowl gasket.

Edit: I guess it is 13mm.... just Googled it.

It's opener there in the wide open air...

i checked the valves when i bought it made all in spec, but today me and buddy started futsing around with it, it was dumping fuel out of the cam breather house and into the air box basically giving it a prex mix of air/fuel and killing it found tons of gas in the crankcase, proceeded to do a compression test ended up with 70 psi in each cylinder dumped some oil in the spark plugs holes ended up with a higher compression about 90 each cylinder, so we yanked the engine pulled the top end off and the rings and piston are toast and the valves are super dirty. so now i have a new question where the heck can i find a top end rebuild for this bike i cant find anything.

EDIT: Found the parts. But if someone knows a cheaper place then partszilla or knows of a complete kit i would be highly appreciative. Sorry for my first post i was very aggravated when i wrote it and came off as an ass, this is the first gs ive ever owned and it just seems like one thing after another with it probley why i was able to pick it up for a little bit of nothing.
