Good day, I'm considering a katana 600 shock for my early gs500.

Could anyone provide sag numbers for their weight, along with the shock preload  position?  Wondering if this shock will provide a good sag number for me.  thx

Welcome to gstwins !!

Hi, thanks for the welcome.  The only sag/preload position/riders wt info I found were for the r6 shock.  Hoping for some complete kat600 numbers.

P.S. Is there any way to post w/o going through the "type letters shown in pic" each and every post?"  and answer the questions?  im on my third try to spell carb...lmao  they want the full spelling..jeez 4 trys and they won't change the question.  holly fack batman..you guys go through this for every post?  changed the question - now i cannot read verification letters..on second illegible verification image ..unreal.  and crap I have bad hearing..am I on some reality show?  lol  frig  illegible and wrong again..cannot believe this

Haha! That's the GSTwin initiation ritual. Welcome to the club buddy!

Seriously though, those questions are to weed out spam bots and go away after your 5th post.

Posts in the "test area" don't count.  So you have one more to go.

I have a Kat 600 shock. I might be able to measure the sag for you.

So you want to know the preload setting, the damper setting, the rider's weight and the resulting sag distance?

Edit: Nevermind on the damper setting. Thats not relevant to your question

anyone have rider wt, preload position, and sag numbers for kat 600 shock? ty

im not sure what the "sag" setting is referring too, but with kat600 shock, you need to be 180+ pounds. in order for it to be an upgrade, its a really stiff shock.

Yes the Katana 600 shock is HARD -in my experience.
Migman, Just dropping in here demanding info regarding "sag numbers" etc is a tad ridiculous. There are all sorts of variables such as actual spring rate, model Katana the shock came off, pre-load settings, your riding weight etc etc.
This is not a stock fitting, so don't expect people to just be able to pop up with a glib figure that suits you. Life ain't like that, and if it were it would be boring!
You may get more/better responses if you take a slightly more 'humble' approach instead of just coming on here as a complete newbie and 'kicking out' because you get frustrated with the security measures and can't get the answers YOU expect INSTANTLY, when YOU want them.
Pull your head in and try again.

If this helps at all, I have it on the softest setting and I get MAYBE 1-1.5" sag when I sit on it, and I'm 260lbs. My fiance who is 130lbs doesn't even make it budge. I love it though, it's a major upgrade in terms of dampening compared to the stock shock, you just have to be heavy enough to not constantly be sitting with it topped out or else it's going to be very harsh over bumps.

I'd say unless you're >200lbs or you ride two up a lot, you should probably look into the R6 shock.
