Postmates on a motorcycle

Does anyone else work as a Postmate with their motorcycle? Or use the app as a customer?

For those who don't know, Postmates is like the Uber of deliveries. They will deliver just about anything for you for a fee, although its 99% food deliveries at this point.
As far as I know, its the the only one of these new apps that lets you use a motorcycle or scooter. Uber doesn't allow moto taxis, go figure.

In my spare time after work and on weekends I've done about 30 deliveries in Portland and Seattle. The pay is not great, it pretty much depends on people being good tippers, but for me its all an excuse to ride the motorcycle and explore the city. I think its a lot of fun and I like that motorcycle couriers can finally be a thing in the US. I've never actually ordered from the service because I'm too frugal and have a car, motorcycle and bicycle. I could see that for someone wealthy or someone who doesn't own a car or motorcycle that the service could be a real time saver.

If nobody else has done it, you ought to try and get on the app. If postmates is in your city, all you need is a car, motorcycle, scooter or bicycle and be able to pass a background check. The GS500 with a top box is a good fit for courier duty.

Pizza is one item I have had trouble with. There is this one pizza place that must be the current trendy thing but they don't do delivery. They only sell 18" pizzas, which would be fine if I had one of those big thermal pizza bags and a flat rear rack with no top case to strap on to. The way my GS is set up, the pizza won't fit in the top case, so I have to strap the pizza box on the rear seat, but the pizza is so big it takes up almost all of the front seat too. So I make the delivery standing on the pegs the entire time.

haha, there's a guy a I see who rides around my neighborhood on his KTM like this. No luggage, just likes to stand up and ride. Which just seems so odd to me. :dunno_black:
