I would like to upgrade the suspension and see the change because everyone says the GS is soft and what a difference upgrading suspension makes. Im just not sure if it would be worth it with my weight and riding style combined with only planning to keep the bike for another season than trying something else.

Im only 160lbs in full gear and alot of the people saying its super soft seem to be closer to the 180 mark, does that matter in anyway? I also use the bike to commute through the week and then alternate light touring and twisties so not sure how soft would be ideal for the mix.

So far ive seen the options of kat 600 and r6 shock, would either be better than the other for my situation and is the cost similar?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm quite a bit heavier than you (~230lbs) but even without adjusting to suit me better, the R6 shock made it feel like a whole new bike. I had my buddy that helped me with the shock swap who is closer to your size (I'd say ~145) ride it before/after and he thought it made a big difference as well. I'm sure properly adjusting it will be even better. Even if your don't need a firmer shock, the increased adjustment options made it worth it for me. I got the R6 shock and necessary parts for $40 shipped on ebay.
