Looking for a wrench that works on the engine ground wire bolt

Title says it all. I wanted to check the contact of the engine ground wire for corrosion, but the location makes it difficult to get at. I can't fit my ratchet wrench in there, and although I can get my 10mm spanner wrench around the bolt, there's zero room to actually turn the bolt. I'm thinking a spanner wrench with a more bent head than mine has would be able to get under that bit that juts out from the engine case and blocks the movement of my wrench. Just wondering if anyone has a specific wrench that has worked for them, and could let me know the specific make of it.

Just removed the engine from my 93. A ratchet with an extension worked just fine. If thants not an option, what about using a u-joint adapter? Might make getting the torque right difficult, but just fine for removal.

I replaced mine the other day, my 10mm ratchet ring spanner was my best friend for that job.  It really is in a pig of a location.  Has anyone relocated the ground wire to a more intelligent spot?

have you had problems with the ground wire connection to the engine?

BTW... Any reason you can't just throw a test light on the engine and wiggle the connection? Or test the impedance; engine to battery neg?

Thanks for all the replies. I've been having starting problems and wanted to check the ground wire connection for corrosion. But I think I've traced the problem to the regulator, as the resistance is way low on it. But I think I'll still pick up a ratchet spanner--and a test light--in case I need to remove that ground wire bolt in the future.

You could take a simpler route and just ADD a new ground wire to the engine at some easily accessible spot. If your existing ground is the issue, the additional ground will fix your problem since it will be the new path of least resistance. If weak or erratic ground isn't the culprit, the new wire won't change anything but it certainly won't hurt to have an extra ground anyway.

Thanks for the tip, tbolt. The new battery I installed seems to have fixed my starting problem. But if it comes back I'll try adding an extra ground wire.

What size is the ground wire?  I am going to replace mine it is corroded on the inside of the wire insulation.

Is the ground 6 or 8 gauge?

If you think you have a regulator/rectifier problem chances are your battery will eventually go dead again. If the rr is bad you are running on battery power with little or no charging happening. I just went trough this problem on my Honda. Could also be your stator going bad. If one or the other is bad it's best to replace both at the same time. Simply test the voltage at the battery terminals. Running you should see 13+volts (but not more than 15v) and off 12.4ish volts. If you don't see at least 13-14v when running you have a charging problem.
