I am installing a GS500 engine in a GSX400E bike. Besides the cylinder head, it seems there are also other differences. On the 500 engine the spacer behind the front sprocket is ticker so the sprocket is placed about 0,5-1cm more to the left. My thought was to change to the 400cc engine spacer, but both spacers seems stock on the engines. Can anybody tell me how to remove this?

Can't help you , but I am curious how you are fixing the problem of the exhaust header placement. Doesn't the GS500 engine send the exhaust directly into the GSX400 frame? Are the jugs interchangeable?

The spacer is an interference fit on the shaft, it has to be. If it wasn't there would be a leak-path between it and the shaft and oil would piss out and/or it may spin and cause wear. It WONT come off without a struggle

Possible solutions.....

A) Remove the shaft from the engine, heat it till it expands enough to overcome the interference and drift it off.

B) Remove the shaft from the engine and turn the shoulder back on a lathe.

C) Weld two short lengths of threaded rod to the spacer parrellel to the shaft axis and 180deg apart and try to draw the spacer off.

Personally I would go with B.

I was wondering this myself. I have had bikes that have had a spacer that was a slide on with no problems though so I why it is interference fit I don't know.
I was trying top get it off to make a Al one ( with a o ring inside if need be).
