Lube clutch cable?

Is there a way to run a little oil down the clutch line to keep it smooth?

Yep. The proper tool makes it easy (Motion Pro cable lubing tool), but you can do it without the tool - it just makes a bigger mess. I disconnect the cable at the lever, put some cardboard under the front sprocket cover (on the ground) and spray in bursts until it starts dripping on the cardboard.

Don't use oil....ultimately it will mix with dirt/dust contaminants.
With anything like this i remove the cable insert and dust it with graphite powder(obtained from locksmiths,etc)....it's a great DRY lubricant.
Silicon spray is also recommended cos it dries-off but leaves a thin film of silicon....u can spray this with the cable mostly connected.It's an excellent all purpose lubricant.

Something tells me this could easily go the way of all the great debates that have come before. Tires, batteries, chain lube, oil...

I use these to lube cables. They work great. Overkill? Maybe. But my choice.

So I can grab a can of silicone spray and do like the above said and unhook the cable at the lever end then spray a few shots down the cable and let it drip out the bottom?  Do I need to unhook anything else?

That will do fine....no need to unhook anything else.Silicon is a very non-harsh/non reactive lubricant.
You can use the remainder anytime for padlocks/hindges/tools/etc etc etc.

For the record, the owner's manual specifies using motor oil for the clutch cable. Anyone using oil is not technically wrong. Telling people not to use oil is a little overkill, don't you think?

As long as you're lubricating the cables regularly with some form of lubricant (oil, silicone, graphite, etc), you're probably fine.

Anything else I should look to lube up?  I see grease fittings on both brake calipers, any special grease needed or just a generic okay?

Grease and friction brakes don't mix well......there bleed nipples.

Well there's a good rationale for not lubricating your chin eh?

Seriously we've been oiling our cables ever since they were invented without problems, you don't need excessive oil.
Graphite or spray is fine but it's very difficult to get these all through the cable.

Nice, I don't have one of those though lol.  Makes it clean.  I grabbed a bottle of silicone spray today now just have to give it a try.

See the link I posted G.Rossman. You get a long flexible "needle" plus 3 syringes filled with oil for $10. No muss, no fuss.

Yes. One tube per lube, but works on all of the cables. Probably don't need quite 1 tube per cable, since some dribbles out the other end over night, but I haven't paid attention to how much dribbles out the bottom.

I don't use them for anything else. I leave them with my bike chemicals/supplies so I don't accidentally use them for some other purpose and forget to replace them.

Ordered a set to give them a try.  Clutch lever seems smooth now so I'll probably wait for them to come in before I mess with lubricating it.
