The Sw-motech website tells me it's crash guard is only suitable for 1989-2006. Can anyone verify this? I have a 2007 GS500F and i'd like that crash guard in particular... help me out

Ask SW Motech themselves.

My guess is that the product was launched in 06 and they haven't updated the sales blurb. They attach to the engine mounts and they haven't changed  :dunno_black:

Does your bike still have the fairing?

As far as I know, the only crash bars that fit under the fairing are from Renntec. Even then, its a bit of a stretch but does work.
The other best option are the R&G crash sliders.

Those SW bars are nice, but pricey at $200 shipped.

I went with a less definitive but cheaper option.  Got some Shogun Sliders and trimmed them to fit.  You'll need to make some longer engine bolts though, using 10mm threaded rod and some double nuts.

Endo, can you give me some specifics on the sliders you got? Like, are they specific to the GS or are they from another bike since you hadda make up some longer bolts? Also, are they cheaper than reload's custom sliders in the for sale section ($80) ?

They look good and I still love that exhaust you have!

Dear Showbiz and whoever's interested -

I used the Shogun sliders on my Yamaha R3.  They looked solidly built and easy enough to install, so I cobbled some up for the GS.  It does require some creative cutting and carving to fit the GS frame, but it was a fun and easy project.
If you get ones for an R1, they sell for as little as $36.

Reload's sliders definitely look a lot nicer and if you can get them for $80 that's a nice option.  Are they still available, as last post is at least 2 years old?

Thank you so much for the info! Very appreciated!

You have a good point about reload's sliders... I was looking at the last time he was active on the forum, not paying attention to the last post in the thread  :embarrassed: And also, never bumped it to ask cuz I wasn't 100% ready to purchase.

The sliders in your link look to be shorter than the ones you have... but $36 is hard to pass up!
