Okay.. speedo needle is gone to the wind, first the tach needles tip broke off, then the speedos needles tip broke off [would sit below the little holding bar..] now the whole needle is FUBAR on the speedo side. Has anyone ran into this issue themselves? I swear this bike.. since I've gotten it, has been nothing but issues, I get GS500s are suppose to be bullet proof. but mine just has bad luck. AS soon as I find myself a Vstorm1000 I can afford. the GS is going back to sitting in the garage as a "back up bike".

b-but I still have the blue plastic hi-beam cover...

but the needles, seriously.. please tell me im not the only one. currently sitting right at 19750miles. pretty low miles as far as I'm considered, I don't consider something having high miles until after 200,000  :D

Wow. Just broke, like by themselves, while you rode around, or were you doing something to your gauges? My bike is about that mileage, but everything needle-wise has been fine. I even got new gauge faces and removed the needles a couple of times before I was done  :icon_rolleyes:

I have, however, had to smack both gauges after rolling down the street first thing into a ride because they get "stuck" somehow. Didn't need to do it last time, so maybe the gremlins are moving away. Gauges are definitely on the weaker side of the bike's amenities. How I wish those cables could've been upgraded with electronics! Oh well, I was prepared for the "retro" tech when I bought the bike. It's not like the Ninjas (like my 250) were any different from the same era.

they just broke while riding around town, not really on any bumpy roads, didn't notice exactly when they broke, but sub 60mph speeds for sure. it may help to point out, I live in Florida, and though the bike is parked in the garage when at home, it does see the outside every other time, having a feeling suzuki cheaped out on plastic and the sun's UV's wrecked havoc on the needles.

and mine is an 05 so I get electronic tach. but cable driven speedo.

and my blinker indicator bulb and highbeam bulb don't even work because of bad bulbs, but my oil check light, and neutral work. and its not like I even have blinkers anyway.. so don't need to be reminded their on, I think I know when to stick my arm back down...  :icon_rolleyes:

you replaced your gauge faces? with what ones? I've been thinking about getting up in there and taking off a needle and making a new needle with some sort of "Exotic material" to replace it. and cleaning the number rollers to de-yellow some of the "common" numbers. Oxi-clean and hydrogen peroxide unyellows plastic without hurting any markings btw.

and on last note, wonder why suzuki went all the way up to 130mph on the gauges... I don't think it will go that fast pushed off a cliff.
