Hi all, I call upon the collective wisdom of the group. Looking at the photo attached, is my front sprocket worn and in need of replacing? I've had the bike since new and have done 25,500Km on it. Both sprockets and chain are OEM. Thanks in advance  :thumb:

From the photo...the teeth appear to have just the slightest "hook" to them...really not so bad at all.  Does the chain run smooth and relatively quiet?  Did you check for "stretched" chain?  How's the rear sprocket look?

I think I went 60,000 km before sprocket replacement.

The original chain and sprockets are good quality and last a long time. Your chain looks like it has been taken care of.
Yes, the sprocket is slightly hooked, so I would change it if I was going to replace the chain, but if you keep running both sprockets and chain as a I set I'm sure you can easily get 5 - 10k more out of them.
I got 20,000 miles out of my original set which is ~32,000 kilometers.

Now that I think about it, 60,000 km was probably my second new sprocket (and chain).

But 30,000 km on a set is very reasonable to expect.

Some "hooking", but not too bad. I've seen a lot worse. You've a few km more out of it.

This is my rear sprocket. No I have not tested the chain for stretch.

Considering how cheap the front sprockets are, just replace it ( and the chain if necessary). Because the GS500 front sprocket is loose fit and circliped on it also wears sprocket to shaft a bit.
Also get a decent quality front sprocket as it will last much longer and run quieter. There is a great youtube video on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOxBF80eMrI. This is a very informative video. There is a fair bit about the nut which we don't have you can skip.

Rear actually looks OK.

At 21000 miles, my original sprockets were worn about the same as yours, and I noticed the last chain I put on wore fast. So I replaced both with new, along with a new chain. Seems to have tightened things up a bit, as if there's less drive lash, but it could be my imagination.
