No problem.  I also had to modify the pegs I had ordered. And it was a huge modification.  Almost not worth it. But hard work can pay off if it makes our bikes a little nicer. Thanks Wolf

Hey everybody.  I just ordered  a set of foot pegs for the front and rear. It says it's for a gsxr, but I should be able to make em work. Plus they are coming from California,  not China... so way faster shipping is a plus. I imagine they are the same as the ones from China as they look the same in the photos.  But it was just about $12.00 and just about a week shipping.  So not bad.

These are just like the ones I ordered. Except in silver color. They should work great on the gs5

Got mine in the mail today. The ones that are open ended (I believe the ones they say are for the front) look to be too wide to fit into the GS's mounts.  :technical:

The ones that are solid ended (passenger pegs) are thin and would need a couple of washers to take up the gap. Maybe they will be a better fit on your GSF I'm wondering. Fingers crossed!!!

Also, after I saw the potential issues with fitment (and had to hurry off to work) I figured I'd do some more searching this evening during down time. I re-read the wiki about pegs and also found this informative thread: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=63109.0

At first I didn't pay much attention to the wiki because those pegs weren't my first choice appearance-wise. But after searching and finding them in silver, they are growing on me. But more importantly is how and why they work.

The thread I linked above explains how pegs that have the mount part separate from the peg itself (like the ones in the wiki) worked well for him because the mount can be installed and then the pegs can be rotated to the correct position.

I'm thinking that two sets of those style of pegs are going to be in my mailbox soon and the ones I got today aren't gonna get used. :dunno_black:

JT-2012 if you can get these pegs we ordered to work on your GS, I'll keep mine and follow what ya do!

Edit: Now that I'm home I got a chance to measure what I mean. The mounting gap on my GS is 17mm. I'm guessing it'd be the same on the GSF's? The solid pegs are only 1/2" wide, which would mean at least 1/8" would have to be taken up with washers for spacers. And even after a second look, I really am leaning towards not using those pegs with the open gap mount.

The wiki pegs have a mounting gap of 15mm which is much closer to stock and I like that. I just edited the wiki page and added in this information for future people searching.

Hey ShowBizWolf,  hey everyone .... I got the pegs and ran into the same size issues as ShowBizWolf described. I am definitely going to make these work.  I already put the rear pegs on and need to do some more work to get the front one on. Check out the rear set up.

So basically what I did go the rear. Since there was a gap like ShowBizWolf described, i honestly bent-forced it to close with a c clamp. I closed it enough to where it was a snug fit. And I also had to put a small washer on thr outside of both ends of the pin. I posted close ups so y'all can see what I'm taking about. Also.  I had to drill out the holes a little bit bigger for the new pin. Worked out great

I Really like how my gs is lookin

I also forgot to mention something very important.  If you have the proper tools and are able to, it is much smarter to push the hole towards the back as much as possible(when drilling the holes out to fit the new pin).  I hope I'm not confusing anyone. If you pay close attention you can see I had to shim the back end of the peg bracket so the pegs would stop when opened.  I personally used a thick enough hard rubber shim that I cut and pressed in. It actually worked really really good.  The pegs open and close perfectly and hold. It was a bit hard to put the peg back on since it was a tight fit with the shim in the back. But once on its absolutely great.  If your shim is not big enough and thick enough it won't work properly.  So if possible,  try and make the holes larger, but towards the back. If you only have a simple drill , then u will need to improvise like I did. I was thinking of even welding on a 1/8 thick metal shim. Still might. I do need to cut off the from brackets then make and weld some larger ones to fit the wider setup of the new front pegs. I understand this all sounds like a lot of work. But guess how I got my bike to look the way it does. Hard work pays off. All the attention and compliment you will get when riding is priceless. Not to mention all the attention from the lady-friends. And really, once you start working on it, you will be done by the time you know it. Good luck fellas. I'll post details of the front asap.

I'll buy those stock rear pegs you guys/gals are discarding.
My feet hurt like a mofo on those metal ones. My feet like the rear followed by the front ones.
Cool.

Hey Mr. Buddha. I'm glad to see you took an interest in my thread. I've read many of your post on different threads. It's a pleasure to meet you. But sorry brother, the original pegs are destined and have already been called on by my brother for his bike.

@ JT... Yeah it was the solid pegs I figured would be easier to make work. Looks great! How did the front ones turn out? I've been in suspense for the details since last evening lol!

@Buddha... When/if I get my pegs swapped over, I'll PM ya about the OEM pegs. So far when I've changed something on my GS, I have kept the stock parts whenever possible but for you, I'd probably make an exception ;)

Hey everybody.  Hope everyone Is doing good.
Hey ShowBizWolf.  I saw your message bro. I've been a bit busy and havnt gotten to the front pegs yet. But I already know the basics of what Ima will do. I will be doing my fabrication this on Wednesday afternoon.  I am a welder and fabricator by trade. So it's a simple fix for myself. If you are able and willing then by all means follow my steps.  I will post pics and all the details on my day off (Wednesday). I promise I am going to make it work, and it will be clean and professional.  Like everything else. Thanks guys. And a question,, on another forum I read that they do a motorcycle of the month.... do we do that on this forum?? I thought it was a cool idea to compare cool bikes that everyone can vote on. Obviously,  we all like getting credit for our creations.  Anyways. Don't take it the wrong way. I'm not dying for attention or anything like that.  Just thought it was a cool idea.

Ahh awesome! I'm not into welding, otherwise heck yeah it'd be much easier. Can't wait to see how they turn out!!

And you can call me sis, not bro :whisper: Female GS rider here ;)

For the 5 years I've been hangin' around this forum we've never done a motorcycle of the month. Just the picture game and project threads. Dunno if has ever been done in the history of the forum. It's a great idea !!!

@ShowBizWolf. Im soooo sorry. It was stupid of me to automatically assume you were a guy. Plus, the gs5 is a GiRls bike right... no, no . I'm just messin with you. I'm really sorry though. In all sincerity, I think your absolutely awesome. I have to sisters, but(To say the least) they're both scared of bikes. I reside in Texas. N we don't have much Lady-riders down here. B safe out there "Sis"

My brother just visited Texas last week for work! He brought me back some hot sauce :D

You should participate in the selfie thread I started a while back: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=71247.0

...and also the Picture Game! (which I did shortly mention earlier) http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=45412.5440

They aren't Bike of the Month or anything but they are pretty fun regardless

I totally hear ya about enjoying a project! I'm currently cutting some custom heel guards out of 1/8" aluminum. It was very hard to walk away from that project earlier today and get ready for work lol!!!
