So my bike was out of service & I figured out it wAs the voltage regulator/rectifier.  So I order the part. Get it in. One of the plugs (two wires in/out) doesn't match my bike.  Then I look up the part on the internet & it sure looks like theirs is right for the model/year.  Desperately seeking answers on this as I'm antsy to ride.

post pictures of the Plug in question and what you have on the bike. it may just be grounding wires.

Same thing happened to me. I bought mine fro Caltric. I got my money back and bought a used one on EBay.

Plug mismatch ?? or just wire color ??
If its just color - Suzuki put different wire colors on wires that do the same thing. Like 3 different colors coming out of the stator - all 3 same. Plug mismatch - yea return if if you can, else we will show you how to goober it on if you put pics.

If you can get a schottky diode based RR that is like the newest and best tech LOL. I can build one In a 100 ways better, but whatever.
Cool.

Turned out the prior owner had put an after-market plug on the bike, so I had to hard wire it.  Still won't start. Every time I try to start the lights dim, & it won't start. Is it possible my previously new battery is dead because of running on the bad volt. regulator?

The Buddha

What does regulator have to do with starting ????
The bike just needs a charged battery.
If the regulator is good but battery is down, it still wont start

Well, the charged battery still won't start the bike. I charge it off of the wall charger. Drop it in the bike. And, when I try to start, lights dim, etc. If I can get it started, it will only start once. Then back to square one.

Sounds like a bad battery. Maybe bad battery cables.

Bluesmudge

I agree. It sounds like a bad battery.
They can go bad really quick if you run them all the way to empty testing the bike.

Well, I had the battery checked by Autozone. They said it was in fine working condition, including CCA, per Autozone. For what that's worth.

The Buddha

I had a seca that had a bad starter that seemed to show signs of a bad battery. Draw tons of current and make no torque.
Try the starter next.

Cool.
