So I was having some wiring issues and thought I had it figures out and was trying to start the bike the other night. I tried it a couple time and then the bike just died on me. I have searched the board for this issue and I have tried the following:

Battery check, it is fully charged nothing turn on when I turn the key on the bike. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Checked the fuse, it has a new fuse and fuse box (Actually tried 3 different fuses)
Put a new ignition switch on it and nothing still
I also put the kick up and help in the clutch and that did nothing either

So is there another fuse that I do not know about? What in the world is causing no power to run to the bike? I am almost at the point of shutting her down for the season and making my own wiring harness and modifying the bike like I truly want it.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

from what i remember theres only one fuse which runs the bike. but there is also a spare? but let me ask this, when you turn the key to the on position, does the dashboard lights come on or is that out also?, if so with kgb (known good battery) starting with the + battery cable follow it throughout the bike. or would it start with a jumper lead?  ( you can jump off of car but make sure car IS NOT RUNNING)

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you let the car tick over when jump starting the bike?

Possibility of a bad ground connection.

Take one of your jump leads, connect one end to the battery negative terminal, the other to an unpainted metal part on the frame or engine, like av bolthead......... Then see what works  :dunno_black:

Don't you mean one end to POSITIVE side of battery, and other end to frame to ground?

Otherwise wouldn't hooking negative battery and frame just short circuit your car / jumper battery?

Sledge is right--the bike is negative ground.

Three things come to mind -

One being bad ground which has been covered. (If I follow sledge, he is saying to make a good temp ground using a jumper lead, and see if that changes the status of anything)

The other is back to the fuse - and Yama touched on it... there are countless posts on this very forum with members mistaking the spare for the actual fuse in the circuit. Please be certain you have not been changing out the one in the spare holder.

Final is back to the battery - your'e certain battery is good? In general, it takes 12.6v for a solid start. Any less and it will have trouble. When I first got my GS, the battery showed 11.4v and it wouldn't turn it over. A few tries later, I didn't have any lights, clicks, or nothin. Put a charger on it and battery was so shot it wouldn't raise the volts... I thought my charger was bad!

No judgement if either of the later two are the cause - you wouldn't be the first, wouldn't be the last. Just hope you get it sorted and back on the road!

Thank you all for the suggestions, I have had a lot of personal things going on and I will not have a chance to test any of this for a while. However once I have time I will test out the ground and see what happens. To answer some questions
yes I am sure the battery is good I had it tested out,

the spare fuse suggestion is funny because I actually did make this mistake at first but found the threads you are referring to realized I am an idiot.

When I turn the key nothing happens no dash lights or anything like that.

cars charging system can overload bike. Cars battery has plenty, without having to use its alternator/charging system to boost it.
