New bike, new member, old question

Hello from Southwestern Ontario.

I just picked up a 1999 model. The previous owner had added LED mini indicators, wide bars (probably from an ATV) and a loud Delkevic exhaust. Seems peppy enough, more reliable than my other bikes - been riding since the 1970s, and this is my first bike without a kick start.

Anyways, it came without a centre stand, which I like for chain maintenance, changing the oil, winter storage, etc. I have a factory service manual, have searched a few threads, but haven't been able to find out if one size fits all. I don't want to get all excited about ordering a 2004 and learning they changed the mounting hardware the year before.

Can any forum members help out?

Thanks in advance.

Ted

Hiya Ted, welcome to the forum!

Part diagram for a 2004:

I was surprised to see that the actual stand's part number is different... I honestly didn't think they changed anything about them at all throughout the years cuz I've never read anything about it... but the spacer and the brake rod numbers are the same.

Maybe it has to do with E vs. F :dunno_black:

I'd be willing to bet that if you got a center stand from anything from 1989 up to 2000, they would be the same. Are you hunting for one on eBay?

Thanks for those links. And yikes! Guess I will be looking on ebay or the local boneyards before ordering from motosport.com.

Yes absolutely. That kind of part would be best to find used on eBay IMO.

Some OEM stuff is soooo expensive, it's silly. Other things are quite affordable. I always shop around but motosport seems to have the lowest prices when it comes to OEM :thumb:
