Hi.  Fairly new to the board. I have to replace my handle bars. I want the same style as the stock but don't want to spring for the OEM. (1) what "style" handle bars are the stock and (2) any recommendations on where to buy online?  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

What year? They changed them from clip-ons to full bars at some point after the turn of the millenium.

Thank you for your reply. The bike is a 2011

Long before that. My '92 has ordinary bars.

to the OP, many suggest the Bikemaster "Daytona" are very similar to the stock bend. I can't confirm this for myself since I've never seen either the stock bars or the Daytonas.

It's pretty hard to beat Renthal ultra lows on anything. They have the added advantage of being particularly good at reducing engine vibration.

The bike takes 7/8" bars, I presume?

I have OEM bars from a 2002 Suzuki Vstrom 1000 and really like the bend. More upright and swept back than stock.
You can probably find used GS500 bars in good shape on eBay.

FYI, in the USA only 1989 bikes had clip on style bars. 1990-2009 bars should all fit.
The fact that you have a 2011 GS500 means you probably live in Canada, Australia, or Brazil so I don't know what years GS500 had normal bars in those countries.
