GS looses MPG hard on the highway at WOT. lol not a good long trip bike, its do-able just not good.

I get better MPG in town riding [sub 55mph]

if your bike has bad rings or valve guides, running 91 [93] will make some of the power come back. Me think's because the 87 is mixing with the oil being let into the chamber, lowering it more. but if you don't have a piece of crap GS. this isn't an issue.

87 for me... USA.

Yes, GS doesn't like the interstate. It can do 90  mph all day long but it will suck down oil and fuel. I've gotten as low as 30 MPG pushing it hard for long periods of time.
The same bike will get 50 mpg+ on 55 mph 2 lane country roads.

For those that want economy above all else, buy a Honda NC700 (70 mpg) or a Grom (125 mpg).

I can get ethanol free premium ~40 minutes from my house. I try to fill up there as often as possible in the winter when I rarely ride my bike. Real gasoline keeps much longer than the stuff with ethanol.

I feel like my GS gets fantastic mileage for how I ride. In the city at the end of my 10 mile commute, I filter hard, lots of acceleration into gaps and away from traffic lights, and I still get 60mpg (in British gallons, that's 50mpg in US units).

I don't bother with the fancy fuel. I used to, but I've decided it doesn't make a difference in how the bike feels to ride. The only real distinction I make is that I never buy supermarket fuel - the additives in real fuel do make a difference to your engine's health.

my 04f gets 80 mpg, imperial gallon, same as the 08f i had before that. my v-max many moons ago would get 35mpg, but it was worth it  :thumb:.
