Hi I just tested my stator and found at idle it's only producing  about 7.5 volts ac across the three
Terminals. They are all about 7.5 (it's a new stator)
When running my battery has only a bout 13.5 volts. At 3500rpm
And 12.5 at idle.
One of The magnets in my genrator has broken so I took out the 1/4 - 1/2
Of it and just left it out.
Seems to me that this is the problem.
Can you guys confirm as I was hoping it would be ok  so I don't have to buy another  one as they are expensive.
Will this be the reason the bike is not running that good ?
And is 13.5 volts enough to charge the battery.
Any help would be apprixiated

I think you might have just answered your own question  :icon_idea:

Is it possible to buy just the magnet?
And is this the reason why it won't run properly?

The rotor is available seperately.  EBay would likely be cheap along with a salvage yard but if none can be found there, an OEM parts dealer can get one.

Before that however, I'd try to determine why the rotor broke in the first place, provided it's not because it was dropped, used as a prying surface or other such abuses.

As for not running properly, this could be a reason but a more specific description of the problem is required.

Ok . Need help
My bike GS500f 2007 runs . Has been dropped by previous owner
One of the magnets is broken off 1/2 of it i epoxied back on cleaned it up put new stator in
Runs rough hard to start.
Likes it's starved of fuel. Boggs down I will post a photo of the plugs .
One carb was leaking I adjusted the floats and it's not leaking anymore but
Runs rough with a backfire coming through the small hole where the air box connects.
Usually after a few mins on choke it settles and I can ride it ok.
But when I stop same thing happens it bogs down and yesterday stayed that way .
Prob a couple of things.
Would low voltage cause this ?
Is it a carb issue ?
Or something else ?

Bluesmudge

Sounds like a carb issue. Maybe make a separate post about it since this thread title is going to draw in people who know more about electric issues.

Carbs are not my area of expertise by a long shot, but maybe its an issue with your needle not seating properly. If you remove the engine oil dip stick, does your oil spell like gasoline?

Have you pulled your plugs to see if there are signs of running rich (dark) or lean (white)?

Pellet44

The plugs are looking white ish as though it's lean.
