Cdi igniter 32900-01D10 was stolen off my bike (cut the wiring). Motosport dot com shows that part available but it's three hundred dollars+. I see MotoSport says that part will also fit other older bikes, and also a 2002. They have list of older bikes But will an old igniter say from  '97 GS500E work on my 2001 GS500K1? Different P/Ns. Too poor to just grab one off online auction and hope. Thanks. P.s. I got wore out last time I was on here trying to pass my initiation. What does make a spark jump? Loud noise?

You will need to rewire the harness at the Ignitor but I'm guessing this was needed anyway from the theft of the original unit.

If a '97 harness is available to cannibalize, it would make it simple to plug in the '97 Ignitor.  Otherwise, rewiring the Ignitor would be required as well.

sorry man thats a bummer. How did they get access, broke seat lock, or just pulled off side cover?

I think the timing rotor changed at some point 1 magnet versus 2, Im guessing the CDI needs to match.  a quick look at the wiring diagrams should indicate that and show how to wire it in.

Someone just pulled the side cover back or took it when I left the seat off while charging the battery. Who ever did it diked the wires off between the connectors and the CDI. The original connectors are still there and in good shape. So probably vandalism more likely than theft. I had a parking permit, since some parking lots are small, permits are required. I heard that one of my neighbors was upset and asking who owned the bike. The person Was told it was me, and said that it can't be me because I'm driving a car. Anyway I don't know but I suspect it was him. Most likely because if a thief wanted it he would have disconnected it instead of cutting it where he did.

@Falken Hawke. Since my connectors are still there, can I just plug in one of the old ones?  I guess I need to look at the wiring diagrams of whatever old bike I find an old part cheap before I buy. I might screw up though, I'll start lookin at that  magnet difference.

Is there a way to reply directly to a post, or do I have to private message  ?

From what you're describing, the '97 Ignitor would be a direct replacement.  The part number given shows an igntor that has no wiring but rather a connector on the case.

I would check pictures of the Ignitor being considered and compare the connectors with the ones you have.  Also verify with a wiring diagram that the connector wire colors match.

I found a 32900-01D10 cdi from a 2002 model. It should work or not. I found the picture shown on ebay with the part number sticker still visible. It should work or not :technical: Supposed to get here next tuesday-friday  :tongue2:

Cross my fingers and... wait. I'm thinking of screwing the part down, if it works JB weld in the screwdrivers  slot
