Gs500 Exhausts

Is there any difference between the exhaust fitted to the early models (pre 2001) and the later ones? The baffle seems slightly larger on the later models, are they interchangeable?

The diameters did change but they should be the same where it counts (connection to headers, exhaust hanger mount, center stand bumper, total overall flow and back pressure).

I could be wrong on this, but I think a Catalytic converter was finally added in 2006. So even though they look the same as '01 - '04, the '06, '07, '08, and '09 will be heavier than other years. I can't find any confirmation of this. It may have been 2004 or it may have only been CA bikes with catalytic converters. Anyways, a motorcycle cat from that era shouldn't effect overall flow too much so just buy one that fits your budget or one that looks to be in the best shape.
