Hi, I just joined here, don't yet own a GS500, but close. The reason for this question is this: there is a local 'bigbox' dealer selling some '08 GS500F bikes, virtually new, 500kms for $3500can. Haven't talked to him yet. Thought before I do I'd throw it out here for comment.
Here's his craigslist ad:

Cheers! 8)
ps:  ooops, should have posted in 'general.....'

Is there more than one? Based on just that Craigslist ad, I would assume that somebody bought the bike new to start motorcycling, rode it a few weeks, and then let it sit for 12 years. The dealer probably bought it and got it running again and now wants a nearly new price for it. If you actually want a new GS500 that is likely as close as you will ever get.
For that price I would want all the rubber parts to have been replaced. Tires, carb parts, brake lines, fuel lines, carb and intake boots. The inside of the engine is likely pristine but the rubber parts degrade over time. If it was stored in a climate controlled indoor storage then you could probably get away with just new tires.

It'd be hard not to get a CB300 instead for that price. But that is CAD. And nice to get a basically new air cooled motorcycle with nearly zero emission controls. Such a thing is not really possible otherwise.

If you follow the link to the dealer, these bikes are available in either blue/white or black/white.  14 years old, 500kms? 8)
