Post-rebuild ticking noise ('09 GS500F)

Hey everyone, I apologize for being that guy starting another "my bike is making a weird noise" thread, but alas, my bike is making a weird noise. I recently finished a full rebuild of my 2009 GS500F with 33,995 miles (you can see the full recap here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=73944.0). I've put 400 miles on the bike since reassembling the engine, and I changed the oil at 250 miles post-rebuild. Other than a smokey initial startup caused in part by loose exhaust mounting bolts, the bike has been running very well. It starts up well, idles well, and runs well around town and on the highway. MPG is similar to what it was before the rebuild (45-50 around town, 50-60 on the highway). I've been following the break-in procedures i.e. keeping the bike bellow 5000 rpm for the first 500 miles post-rebuild.

Unfortunately, the engine has been making a strange, potentially trivial, but definitely unsettling rattling noise. Video/audio here: https://imgur.com/a/AjQlvLU. It's the ticky-tick-tick-ticky-ticky-tick sound that kinda sounds like keys jingling together.

The noise is not present at initial start-up from cold and seems to begin when the bike is semi-warm. I usually notice the rattling when I'm about a mile from my house, but then it goes away if I run the bike at higher RPMs for an extended period of time (15 minutes or more). To give more specific examples: I live about 3 miles from work, and the trip to/from work is mainly stop-&-go on a main road. The rattling noise appears on my trips to/from work, and I notice it only when I'm idling at traffic lights. As a counterpoint, when I ride to visit friends 15-20 minutes up the freeway, the bike sounds fantastic at high RPM and also at idle after exiting the freeway. It's as if there's an intermediate engine heat level where the noise is present--but again, it's not present when I start the bike from cold or when the bike is fully up to temperature. Of note, the noise seems to go away with throttle.

I combed this discussion board, and I found a post that describes what seems to be a similar issue: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=61248.0. Hoping this is the case, because it seems like a relatively harmless issue. Nonetheless, I would love some feedback from some more experienced GS mechanics!

loose valves will make ticking noise as it warms up and things expand making the clearances larger.

Can't say for sure, since your bike is no longer stock, but I've had many Gs500s and learned the engine just makes noise...I thought my 2002 now with 85K was about to die many times....it just makes noise depending on temp etc.

Noise should be traced to where - valve train etc is noisy, there's no water jacket to tamp it down and suzuki really liked making noisy motors. The GSXR's of the 80's (air oil cooled) were full of noises that would have sent other manufacturers crying into the closet with shame. If its lower end noise, no you cant ignore that, but valve train, just keep everything in spec and ignore it.

Cool.
