When I got the bike a little over a year ago it had Been sat in dry storage for a long time it had very old fuel in it I emptied it and put fresh in and ran it up but when I put my new exhaust pipe on I noticed it was only running on one cylinder I cleaned the carbs but now It runs on both cylinders I can't rev it above 4 to 5 thousand revs because it starts to cut out and stall and it also bangs and spits is there anyone that can help me out here I am new to carbs and unsure on what to do and does anyone one if the carbs of the 04 onwards would work and fit any help would be grateful

Sounds like the slides aren't coming up, which would indicate a bad vacuum leak. Dozens of other things can cause the same behavior. The moral of the story is it's not getting enough fuel from the main jet. Highly likely your carb cleaning job caused it, so do that again and make sure you are doing it 100% right.

So you recommend to give them another good clean what would you recommend to clean them with

The Buddha

Actually first take off the air filter and stick your fingers in there and lift the slides up 1-2 times. They could just be stuck.
Then you could leave out the filter and start the bike with the tank kinda propped up on there to see if revving it causes slides to lift or not.
Cool.
