So, i'm a new member. And i also got a new to me bike. I recently bought myself a 1993 gs500e. When i bought it, it ran fine (like mid january 2022). Since i think a day of 3. When i start the bike, it starts up fine. I let it warm up and it does that fine. However when i ride the bike, after like 500 meters the bike starts like almost breaking down. When i'm parked, i have the clutch pulled in and the bike will not go above 2000 rpm. I can give it full gas, and the bike will just not go above 2000 rpm. It wil then hover between 1500 and 2000 rpm. When i let go of the gas it will stop running and not start again, the not starting issue is the battery i think i've already ordered a new one. So my question is, has anyone encountered something like this? And does that person know, whats wrong with it and how to fix it?

Kind regards

ajensen

The usual problem is the fuel system (carbs). There are lots of great posts on this site about troubleshooting them. Also, the petcock can give problems--try it on the prime position. I'd start by taking out the spark plugs to see if they are wet or dry.

Thank you for your reply! I did the smartest thing i could do, this is because i'm not the handiest person. I went to a shop, who is repairing my bike as we speak. I did have to push it a couple miles because it wouldn't run.
