I just picked up a 2004 that the previous owner had brought back to life after a long nap.  He cleaned out the tank and did a red-kote to the tank (looks good) and he says he cleaned the carbs and installed new jets rather than cleaning them.  I have not taken it apart yet.  I have done several of these in the past.  I have a Haynes manual coming so I'll be able to confirm the jets are stock.  The exhaust and airbox and air cleaner are all stock.  The bike is cold blooded (though it is only 40ish here right now).  What do people typically do to make the stock 3 jet carbs work a little better?  Pilot jet? Shim needle?.  I am more focused on smooth driveability than top end.  Thanks!
