Just read a quick preview of that GSX-800. No hp specs, but guessing it is going to come in similar to the Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha parallel twins in this size category, maybe 70-80 hp. There are lots of other bikes I'd rather have than this, especially considering the Suzuki is overweight at 445 lb curb weight. But it is interesting Suzuki is getting back into the parallel twin game.

We are a Suzuki twin forum, that's the only reason I'm saying we should all buy those. Support the brand/format. Personally, I doubt I'll ever buy a new new motorcycle that isn't electric, but you never know. I really like the new Vstrom 800 package.

The OP guy will love his triumph. A buddy bought a Bud Ekins Triumph 900, he loves it but does not ride it. He hops on his Tu250 for short rides, Burgman 650 for long. Has a small museum of bikes. BMW R26, Honda 305, vespa, w650, others. The Bud Ekins looks good. Too heavy for him at 500 pounds.

The Suzuki 800, I read 80 hp which is certainly more than my DL650. And heavier.

A replacement rather than a move up, would be a modern 300 or 400 twin. Suzuki does not really compete in that space now in the west, their 250 twin is heavy and slow.  Their 800 is now considered a middle weight for the western markets.

I now focus on my KLE300 which works better than my project gs500 ever did or will, and it looks good too.
