I need to replace the inner pipes on forks on my gs as they are rusted, they have been sanded but they started leaking not long after new seals got installed does anyone know if the 2003- 2011 ones are the same as the 2012 model

The upper chromed tubes are commonly known as the 'Stanchions'. The lower alloy parts are the 'fork Sliders'.

Check the part numbers on parts sites like cmsnl.

Are you talking about the chrome tube? The part number changed in 2004 when the GS started being assembled in Spain. Many of the parts on the Spanish made forks are different. I wouldn't expect any fork internals to work between the older Japan made and the newer Spain made GS500s. If your 2012 GS was made in Spain I would say you are okay to use any 2004+ fork parts.

Correct the chrome tube, I was going to buy these, they say its for 2003 to 20011 so i would think it should fit a 2012 model.

I would think it would be cheaper then getting them rechromed.

How did you go with this part? I bought the same and the damper rod doesn't fit through the bottom, looks like it has an internal "bushing" with a smaller internal diameter then the original..
