Just wondering what your favorite mods is to you ride.

TheGoodGuy

The magnet that is on the cross bar of the center stand..

Its a bar magnet (quite powerful) used to trigger the red lights..

come in at a decent speed and then bit the brakes over teh pad and it will recognise your bike.

this has been the most useful mod for me, even though it sometimes fails on some really badly aligned detector loops.
'01 GS500. Mods: Katana Shock, Progessive Springs, BobB's V&H  Advancer Clone, JeffD's LED tail lights & LED licence plate bolt running lights, flanders superbike bars, magnet under the bike. Recent mods: Rejet with 20/62.5/145, 3 shims on needle, K&N Lunch box.

Got to be:

1.  Progressive fork springs (rides like a whole different bike) and

2.  Rejetting (no more cold starts, better performance)

scratch

40 tooth Sprocket Specialist's Titan Tough hardened aluminum rear sprocket.

And 1980's Yamaha sportbike turnsignals.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

TheGoodGuy

i should add and say after the magnet, its teh suspension work of progressives up front and the katana shock out back.

I am partial to the random chrome parts and giant wing on the back and the "Type R" Stickers all over it.....Jeebus, I'm way too much of a ricer

luke1645

looks like CasiCUA had a little too much fun with photo editing :dunno:
going fast isnt the problem, its the crashing and burning that hurts

CasiUSA

Yeah, I love doing terrible Photo Editing jobs. You have to see the wife/booty call thread...

CasiCUA, what year is your bike? That's exactly what my 93  looked like when I bought it (minus the Type R sticker and wing - mine came with the pink splash graphic). Cool to see what it morphed from. Now it's on it's 3rd tank, 2nd tail...in fact I think the only things that are orininal are the frame and engine block.

luke1645

i would have to say my pipe is my fav mod so far. makes the gs sound like it has a set if ya know what i mean

It's a 1992, and as far as I know, all original.  Oh yea, I forgot also the original topic of this post. My bike is Completely stock. I did the Exhaust mod, but I think I cut too far in, and now the bike sounds like it is constantly farting. I'm getting a CBR or Yamaha OEM Canister to replace mine, should still see some kind of performance increase.  :dunno:

I must say that the greatest mod for the GS is...............(it makes it way cooler, faster, better, etc.)

The Fenderectomy!

It really should be the first mod any GS500 owner does. Period.

yamahonkawazuki

naah, didnt you know it gives you 20 extra hp if you leave that mudflap on? (runs and hides behind a sportster) :bs:  :nana:

The dent in my gas tank, I swear I got a 5hp increase after that mod. It has to do with increased volumetric efficiencies from the lower head pressure feeding the carburetor bowl with a lower mass flow to ambient pressure ratio. :?

Also the scrape marks on my alternator houseing that tore away the Suzuki emblem. When I cruise by I just feel the babes checking me out. :thumb:
As my Uncle Bilbo used to say, "It's a dangerous thing taking your motorcycle out of the garage. If you don't keep your wits about you there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."
