Our first 50F day, so I played hooky. I finally exorcised all the (known) demons from the GS and took it out for a ride today... yahoo! what a feeling.

After the bike warmed-up, the idle kept sitting at 3k.  It was idling fine at 1200 last fall, and I didn't change it using the pilot screw.  I don't understand what changed.  I did have the throttle and choke cables disconnected, though.  There's just a tad free travel in the choke lever (good)... could the air filter have gotten a bit clogged making it run rich, I wonder?

Anyways, I set the idle down to 1200 using the pilot screw, and it seems to run fine now.  But I wonder if I'm just compensating for some other problem (vacuum leak?  carb float?).  Oh, well, maybe if it's running richer now, that just means I don't need to rejet :) .
You cannot escape our master plan!

If you had the cables off the carb, you should also check ensure there is free travel in the throttle cable.

Could be the idle adjuster (not "pilot screw") was knocked off a few degrees during R&R.
