mixture screw location

I've yet to get the manual, and cannot readily recognize the air/fuel mix screw on my  carbs.  Does it require removing gas tank to get to?

Nope... it's on the bottom side of the carbs.
Towards the front of the carb...

You may need to remove the carbs, flip them upside down and take a look.  So I guess you may need to remove the tank to remove the carbs to take a look.  From the factory, there is a small brass(ish) plug in the hole that houses the screw.  If the plug is still in there, you'll need to remove it.

By remove, do you mean drill out?  I think now that I remember that maybe I did read that somewheres.

Yep... drill that little sucker out.
It'll come out very easily.  Just run the drill for a split second on there and it should either pop out or fall apart.  Also, the screw is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch under that cover, so be careful.  You will also need a small headed flathead screw driver to adjust the screw.  I actually use a flathead drill bit so I can adjust it with the carbs still on the bike.  Once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to adjust in a few seconds...

 But I guess I'll have to take the tank off to get the drill in there, eh?...  I needed to clean the carbs anyway...

Oh yeah... before you yank the carbs and flip 'em over... drain the float bowls.... else you'll end up with a hand full of fuel.  

I would also suggest getting your hands on a manual - they are VERY handy - and I say this without getting any kind of kickback from the manual makers...

the little screws on the bottoms of the bowls... are those the drains?  I think I remember seeing a float test that used a lenght of tubing and those drains...

That's them... attach a piece of tubing and run that tubing into a bottle or something.  You could even remove your tank, lay it on the ground and run the tubing into your tank.  Then unscrew the screws.  Don't remove them total though - just unscrew them.  Should drain out.  Then you ready to go...

Do you adjust the idle air screw after the bike is warmed up and running or when the bike is off and cooled down?

I've yet to mess with mine, but I believe you can do it with the bike running

I adjust mine without alot of difference yesterday.  Closing the screws made the bike hang longer at various RPMS after giving a little throttle.  I returned it to 3 turns out and the bike runs OK nominally but still comes back down to idle alot slower than any other bike I've ever seen.
