Tell me how loud it is compared to stock - specifically the F1R.  I need some noise.
Thanks!

Very.  I love mine.  Only takes about 30 minutes to install.

Nice and loud. Mine is mellow at low RPM's but really rips when I get into it. The only problem with mine is that it has sprung a leak on the seam. I think this might be pretty common on the cobra, but I am not sure. I like the way they look to. I have the f1r.

sanityfree

i want to hear it. a video clip like john has posted of his V&H.
If you think you can, don't. Many things start with "I think I can," and end with "Ow!"

I have a Cobra, and I'd decribe it as a throaty growl...not too loud, but enough so you hear it...and MUCH nicer than the stocker.
Cheap, and a quick install.

Frost

how much are the cobra or the F1?

doi need to weld or cut the exhaust?

Well, when I bought my bike, it already had a Cobra F1R installed so I don't know how loud the stock one is. But, I can hear my engine on the interstate doin 90 and it sounds pretty good. It sounds awsome when your accelerating really hard.

Does anyone know how it relates with the exhaust drilling mod?

ash999

Dunno about comparison, but when my sister crashed the GS i replaced the exhaust as well, for a second hand stock which already had the drilling mod. It only just passed the UK MOT cos the guy was very leanient.

The bike sounds nice, a lot different to stock, more GGGRRRROOOWWLLL!
and people notice ya when you go through town thinking your on a bigger bike, i also had this like DIY metal disc that is put in  between the inner and outer hole on you exhaust, like a doughnut shape disc held in with two screws so its quieter for MOT's!! But i just pulled it out because i liked the MOD!!

Frost

so...the drilling mod DOES work??

Pardon my ignorance, but we're talking about the F1R/S being just a CAN right, not a full pipe system? And what exactly is involved in installation...any welding, or is it strictly a bolt-on affair?

The Buddha

OK the drilling mod does make it louder... but only slightly. To get it really screaming your only real option is a slip on. Cobra or otherwise... all will be louder than the drilled stock. Performance increase is there with a slip on as well... the bike spins up much faster, and if jetted right... makes for a much nicer bike... you get more of a mellow feeling like the bike is breathing right and getting enough fuel air mix etc etc... and the predictable throttle and quick spin up is a bonus.
Cool.

For the Cobra you just need a hacksaw and elbow grease.  It's a can.

anyone have a link or a part #er to the F1S? I'm psyched on getting one  over the V&H system ...I'm not performance minded just want to make alot of noise 8) [some what near 5x the decibils of the stock one would be ideal :thumb: ]

dorian chapman

I too am interested in this.  If anyone has pics of the F1 on their bike (so i could see what the installation looks like, and what it looks like on the bike.
