alright, i just received the suggested petcock and adapter plate from pingel

but

for those that have installed these, is there really enough clearance for the petcock that it wont be bumping up against the carbs

also, i ordered the version with reserve, and damm....the screen stem looks like it would stick out the top, but preliminary coat hanger test says it will fit in there

also

recomended ways of making the hole bigger with out getting crap in the tank

the directions say to use a rat tail file pulling out only but geez, it looks like i have a lot to remove

so i just put it all back together as it was and thought i'd get some suggestions from anyone on this board who has done this before i procede

"for those that have installed these, is there really enough clearance for the petcock that it wont be bumping up against the carbs "

- I have no problems with clearance on the petcock and the carbs...

"the directions say to use a rat tail file pulling out only but geez, it looks like i have a lot to remove"

- A rat file is the best way....no 2 ways about it as I know.  but I don't always listen to my own advise.  I used athe trusty dremmel and a hand vac to clean out the little bit of debris left over.

I love the Pingel and its performance.  Good luck.

I used a hand file, I think it took about 30min.  Then I blew the crap out of the tank with compressed air for another 10 minutes afterwards.  Washed it and blew it out again.  Haven't had any fuel delivery problems since.

After draining my tank I let it air dry for a couple of days to keep from turning into a crispy pink stain on my garage wall
