I'm looking to buy some new bar ends.  Are they all the same size or do I have to order a certain size? Thanks in Advance.

Got a couple of questions.  Oh yeah, and they're not all the same...
Do you have stock or aftermarket bars?
If aftermarket, do they have a nut welded in the end?

Most stock GS bars have a strange sized screw that is used with a weighted bar end to reduce vibration.  Most aftermarket bar ends are much lighter than the stock ones.  Hollow bars use a compressed rubber stopper to hold the bar end in.

I have stock bars.  Where can I order them online?  Mine are a little scratched and are getting rusty so I want to change them.

Just a related tidbit of info. My 2000 model tipped over on a windy day. The bar end twisted when it hit and ruined the bolt(better it than the bars). I took the bolt to Ace Hardware and they matched it up fine. I bought a replacement for the washer that's underneath it all too. The bar end went back on OK. It's just a little scratched.

You didn't mention the model year of your bike.  As far as I know, the '89-'00 models have bar ends like the ones shown on my Throttle Retainer page.  Later models apparently don't have the threaded insert inside the handlebar, and the bar ends mount using some kind of compression fit.

Now for your real question.  If you have one of the earlier models, you probably want item #13 from this 1999 BikeBandit diagram.  Cost is $5.85 per side.

If you have a later model, it looks like you would have to order the whole set for each side (item #10 from this 2002 BikeBandit diagram) to get the piece you want.  Cost is a hefty $22.64 per side!

You might consider repainting the bar ends you already have, especially if they're "late model".  I bought a used bar end from a wrecking yard, and it arrived in about the same condition you describe - maybe worse.  I used some Rustoleum rust remover and sandpaper to get rid of the rust.  I could have / should have removed most of the paint as well, but I didn't mind an uneven texture so much as the rust and MISSING paint.

I shot the bar end with some Rustoleum glossy black spray paint, and later on with some Rustoleum clear coat.  It came out looking fine!  (However...if you have early-model bar ends and no future need for the spray paint, I would just spring for the new units.)

Good luck!
