weird idle problem

so i just picked up my bike from the shop...
they were suppose to only fix the spark plug wires since it keeps on shorting out on me when it rains...

but now i have this weird idle problem...
it's like as if the choke is always in the ON position...

when i start up the bike...it idles fine at around 1600rpm
but when i give it gas, it will jump up to around 4000rpm and stay there...

is the choke cable broken?...valves? carbs?...what's the problem??

Thanks in advance

Check to see if the choke cable came out of its housing on the carb. See: http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8756&highlight=choke

Next suspect is if there is an air leak somewhere. The shop mechanics may have taken the tank off to get to the coils, since that is where the spark plug wires originate. So, they would have unplugged the main and reserve hoses and the vent/overflow hose. Unless they decided to unbolt the fuel selector from the frame, in which case they would have removed the vacuum hose from the left carb. See if they forgot to reattach the vacumm hose. Also, look to see if you're missing either of the vacuum spigot caps (the caps on top of the carb tops). Let's see, what else would they have messed up, that you would have them fix when you bring the bike back? Call them immediately and tell them what you told us, and ask them nicely to fix it for free, since they're the last one's to have messed with you bike.

Idle should be 1200rpm.

checked everything...everything seems fine from the outside...

maybe the shop didn't adjust the idle properly?
when i set the idle...i have to warm up the bike first right?...approx how long??

the way i set my idle: warm up the bike for about 5 mins and then go for a ride while still having the chocke a little...then after the bike starts to run the way it sould, about 5 mins into the ride i put the idle to 1300 rpm and that's it

now it take's a longer time to warm it up and have the ide at 1300 rpm but i know that if i ride for 1 hr it will not drop or go up...it will always be at 1300 rpm where i want it
