Quote from: matt86tobrembo,
Thanks for the heads up on the lock , I pick a new the other day and
I got all my locks changed over to the new key type, even got a really really banged and beaten up old lock that I got with my bike changed over to a brand new one  :thumb:

With the snowy ride I'd love to go on it, but havent thought about where I'd stay etc. A group of guys I know usually rent out a lodge but I haven't seen any for a month so don't know what's going on  :dunno: Hopefully I'll see one or two of them this weekend.

On the aftermarket pipe thing, Staintune make a pipe for the GS, RRP is $650 and comes with the EPA tag. Not sure if it's a full system, or just a cut and shut deal like the VTR250's. There's also a mob in Kirawee that do custom pipes. They make it how ever loud you want, and provide an EPA label and they can also put in a baffle as well. They can make it in stainless steel, carbon or chrome finish, and a guy who had one made up for his R6 said his cost $550 for the muffler and mid pipe. I was thinking about a new pipe, but don't see the benefit on such a banger as my GS

On the ride front, I've been out of it the last few weeks (sick and just plain buggered) so if it's dry/warm on Sunday I'll be going thru the RNP and then be at Bald Hill during the morning. Just need to make sure I clean the chain first this time.

Righto fella's, I've got myself somewhere to stay (pending confirmation) for the snowy ride, so where abouts are you guys staying, and what are your plans, if you've thought about it yet, for making the trip down to the Snowies?

AND

I'm planning to go out to WSID again on the night of the 31st of August for the off street drags with a few blokes from another AU forum I frequent. So who's interested in getting out there? If you are I can post up the details.

Got my bike dyno'd and properly jetted this week   Turns out the last time the carbs were worked on, the mechanic didn't put one of the needles in properly, so it was just rattling about in there  :x

But now the bike runs like a dream :thumb: should also fix the shocking fuel mileage I was getting (250km before reserve). No aftermarket pipe or air filter on the bike atm, so no additional power from the dyno tune, but I can say that in pretty much stock form, the bike gets 37.9rwhp.

PS: Anyone coming out to WSID wednesday night??

Ugh, Street meet was cancelled due to the insane winds and possible rain  :x I'll have to go in a week or two instead.

Might go for a short ride through the RNP and down to the pie shop on Sunday. Can't remember the route through Mt Kiera so I guess I'll have to slab it down to Albion park.

Just noticed the post about the snowy ride the only plans we have at the mo is to be there we have a place booked at Threadbo but thats about it so I let you all know whats happening when we work it out with everybody good news is we may have a car coming so it can carry all the luggage
Question for Brembo what is WSID  :dunno:
Exhaust answer magnum make a full system for a GS, 1 for road 1 for track the road one by memory was about $720 the race one about $650 I think it was cOr from Tassie that had one although I saw his bike for sale in the last just bikes classifieds it has a nice chrome full system with a stainless muffler looked good and he had the good suspension on it which kills my almost claim to having the best handling GS in the country he had the fork springs and a Hagon rear shock Ive got the springs and a Koni rear but I think the hagon has more adjustment then the Koni :dunno: .
Anyway stay good and Stay upright.
Till next time   :thumb:

WSID = Western Sydney International Dragway ( www.wsid.com.au ), they run off street drags every wednesday night.

I have similar plans for the Snowy Ride, I've got accomodation sorted for Friday/Saturday nights, but other than that who knows...

I checked out RaceTune for a price on a new pipe, for a new exhaust with EPA label, baffle, muffler and midpipe I was quoted $575. Didn't think to ask about a full system.

EDIT: and as always, the weather has cleared up  :guns:

Quote from: Lukewarm WilsonHi Matt
Steves muffler is a staintune and meets all the regs nice sound at idle and good sound under acceleration very quite at constent throttle but he has taken the baffle out so its usally quieter but without it its not to loud cost by memory was between $600-$650.

I was wondering today & I have a question  did you guys put Steves muffler on or did you have a bike shop do it? I have been told that I will need to cut my pipe :dunno:  to put the new on.

He did it himself but he has all the tools at work to do it but he said it was pretty easy. Im sure he said he had to cut it but I'll check with him to be sure :thumb:

Went for a fang thru the RNP and down to the pie shop via Maq Pass. Havent done any longer riding for a while and now I'm spent, I hurt all over   The double lines on Maq Pass seem to be working, I was only almost taken out by a moving truck instead of every second car  :o

Got some pretty neat fule consumption too, 238km, 10L even. 4.2L/100km  :thumb:

My ol' goat is bog stock except for a rejet to get it running right. Would be good to put a new air filter in, and a new exhaust but I'm too poor for that   Have considered Progressive fork springs as a future option though.

EDIT: Also unofficial 'bike night' out at WSID this wednesday for anyone interested.

Funny was up Mac Pass yesterday heading to Robertson when my mate Steve decided he would egg on a WRX to come play up on the pass I had already noticed before hand that the driver of the WRX was a gun and his Rex was not standard so there I am with pics in my mind of being wedged underneath said Rex when we get to the beginning of the pass.
Steve takes off I try to keep up but to no avail but still pushing hard when a grumbling white rocket flys past me and the falcon in front of me which I just caught and within 2 bends it has toasted me no problem I think to myself as I've been beaten by them once before I know there quick and this guy is a gun but I think to myself Ha no way can he catch Steve.
As I'm still pushing hard and closing in on the pie shop still no sign of either WRX or Bandit then I see the Rex coming back the other way he gives me a wave which I return, 3 min later I'm at the pie shop theres Steve 3/4 the way through his ciggy (he'd been there a couple of minutes) "Did he catch you?"
I enquired "Caught and passed me" came the answer, turns out the Rex outbraked the bandit in one of the hairpins the bloke came in on the brakes at the last minute touches the handbrake sticks out the rear and power drifts all the way through the corner with all 4 tyres smokin Steves tried going back to first but could only keep pulling wheelstands out of the bends.
Never under estimate the power of WRX on a bumpy road

Hi Spirit,
Welcome aboard
Mods to mine include Ventura rack and bag, dual accessories plug under seat ,Progressive front fork springs and Koni rear shock, Givi screen dririder saddle bags thats about it. Not really that much you can buy out here except for your exhaust system and a Hagon Shock which is about $550-$600 the Koni I got you can't buy any longer I was lucky it was old stock in the warehouse
What did your exhaust system cost you?

Hi Matt
Were you with someone else? I may have passed you on the way to robertson pie shop on Mac Pass had a bandit and another bike pass me the other way as I was heading up, would have been about that time :thumb:

i have had 2 magnum exhausts. the first was the carbon fibre. $725. then i lost the front on an off camber round about. the only damage i did was to gouge out a nice hole in the carbon. had to get a polished alloy one $525 as they had no more carbon fibre ready and i was in a hurry to get bike back on road.
have any of you done anything to front end ? i.e. double disc.
i just have to take some measurements but i believe the disc and caliper of an early suzuki across is the same as gs just opposite side. there are already mounting holes on gs rim for second disc. just need to weld some mounting points on opposite fork and new master cylinder and you have a double disc front end for around $400-$500.
i have a set of bandit 1200 forks and triple clamps but i think setting this up would be a more expensive endevour.

i have started playing around with carbs & jetting.
unlike the american model we have adjustable clip postions on our needles. i have tried 122.5 main jet. good improvement, but am going to try 125 & 127.5 to find the best.
well i will go before i ramble on too much.

hear from you all soon
stay upright
