Holy crap! that does not look like a fun ride, or is that some new super-duper stunna shaZam!? Hope dude is ok.  How did it happen? How fast were they going?

dublinjail

Notice the swerve type skidmarks, maybe an animal of some type which has already exited the frame caused this guy to lockup his brakes? It appears that he's going at least 55mph which is probably a low estimate. The rider to the right of the frame looks totally dumbstruck by what is unfolding before him. Can you imagine that happing to your buddy directly in front of you!

only bad things can come from a picture like this

Ouch...that does *not* look like something you want to see happening right in front of you.  I hope the rider is okay.

Nope this is a still shot of a guy setting down from a wheelie that turned into a tank slapper and he did the worse thing you could do when that happen,   ANYONE CARE TO GUESS? Racers give the others a chance.

i watched the footage, i will see if i can locate the URL for it.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

Jasco

locked the front wheel as he was coming out of the wheelie?

Don't really no but my guess is that he probably locked is front wheel doing something.

Matt

Tank slapping started, locked brakes, made tank slapping worse, released rear brake front brake still locked causing the rear tire to lift eventually putting him in the position he is in now. :dunno:

i found the picture on a bmx riding site, so i don't know anyone in the picture.
I'd love to see the video of it.
Hopefully becuase he's got a bike following him, he may not have gotten run over by a car following too closely or anything bad like that.

Kerry

My guess is ... highside in progress!

Judging fom the marks on the road he skidded both brakes, but his current "flight" suggests that he kinda "stood" on the rear brake even after he let up on the front one.

Am I close?  :dunno:

is the footage of this.

Sorry, my mistake, there is another clip simular to this where the guy landed the front wheel and went into highspeed wobble.   he hit the brakes.

from my own experience and from other racers i have talked to, you spose to absorb the shake with arms while you attempt to lighten the front by throttleing up. doesnt always work.  i got to find that one vid now damnit.

Judging by how limp that guy went when the bike landed on him, there may not BE any grandchildren....  :nono:

don't think he rag-dolled because it landed on him
its more likely to me that he may of knocked himself out or blacked out when he realized what was happening

as far as being stupid goes i think that is an unfair comment
you can do a wheelie a hundred times (not saying that he has done it a hundred times) and the one time that you crash and it is on film and the net and being called stupid for it is unfair

and i personally ride for the fun of it
and the fun of it ocassionally comes from doing wheelies (and the ocasional christ) on very much open streets

but thats me

at least this time when a wheelie crash video was displayed nobody has sait it was cool i mean "awesome" (caugh, caugh, zoltan caugh..)

Wow, that sucked. I don't think I need a bigger bike just yet lol. *hugs his GS*

At least he was wearing good gear from the looks of it.

Well, that explains why sportbikes have higher insurance rates. Perfectly clear day, no road hazzards, very little traffic and you still manage to get hurt.

My guess is that the rider is ok (or at least I hope so). He was wearing full gear and helmet (which stayed on, thank goodness) and I'm sure his buddy wouldn't be such a bastard as to release this image if he got seriously hurt.
As my Uncle Bilbo used to say, "It's a dangerous thing taking your motorcycle out of the garage. If you don't keep your wits about you there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."

glenn9171

Riding a wheelie and having it end badly is not stupid.  You want to do it, then do it in the proper place.  Riding wheelies on public highways like this dumbass is stupid.  What happens when the cars on the road behind this guy sees him wipe out?  They panic and either hit the other bikers or lose control and hurt themselves or other drivers.

Wanting to "live life" is a very selfish reason to do stupid shaZam! like this.  The vehicle ahead of this group is pulling a camper.  Had they been behind the biker, the whole group of bikes probably been wiped out when the trailer jack-knifed as the driver slammed on his brakes.
