Okay, it appears that when I last replaced my wheel, I wiped off too much grease from the axel, and its squeaking now.  What type of grease should I buy to re-grease it?

dgyver

I use white lithium grease.
Common sense in not very common.

the squeek is from something other than the axle.....if the axle is properly tight....nothing to squeek

Agree. The squeal probably comes from the brake. Check if you somehow misaligned the caliper or the pistons so the brake doesn't release properly.

Or some other assembly error.
