Hi all,

After lurking on here as a guest for months, thought I should come out of the woodwork!

I'm based in the UK, have a 94 GS in black with a MKII TCP fairing, Givi wingrack, StarCom intercom and Vauxhall (GMC) car radio fitted.  Sat-Nav by the end of the week with a bit of luck!

Ride safe all, though I doubt I'll meet many of you in person! :)

What's the radio for?  It's not like you have a Gold Wing like fairing ;)

Show us pics!

Oh yeah, and welcome!

Hi m8,

Are you the same as the vauxhall radio pic post over at the uk site? what size speakers are you using? how loud can you get :)

Steve-C

Hi,

Yep, its the same guy as the UK site.  I'm running it through my intercom, couldn't be bothered wiring up speakers as well.  Although there should be enough space either side of the radio to fit some small ones.  I do have 3 of the 4 speaker outlets still available if I decide to do this.  Whats the point though, I wanna listen to the radio, not broadcast it to every passer-by!  Reason for fitting was I'd had enough of changing the batteries in my walkman every few days, having poor reception and having to re-tune as I moved out of range of the local transmitters
Pics below!

Volume through the helmet speakers can be turned up to more than defening if needed!

Is that a cell phone charger I see?
Dude, what does mine say?  Sweet!  What about mine?

Welcome to the dark side.    How do you find the Givi system?  Do you have the hard cases or just use the rack?

Yep, ever tried using a cell on a bike without a hands-free?! Just call me a gadget freek, or sad...your choice?!

I have the full 3 hard case Givi set up.  1 x E52 and 2 x E360.  They work really well, surprisingly don't dwarf the GS and the handling is pretty much like having a pillion when fully loaded.  Not sure what it'd be like with a pillion and luggage mind...may need a stronger rear shock!

I fully reccomend the givi stuff if your looking for luggage, true its way more that the soft throwovers, but so much more secure and easier to use!  None of this fussing with staps and ensuring exhaust clearance, just clip on and go.

I'd sure like to see a pic of the bike with the full complement of Givi luggage mounted.

I have a set of (less-expensive) Givi-compatible Kappa saddlebags mounted on a Five Stars rack system (see my Riderhaus page), but with their sourcing problems it looks like Givi is the way to go for hard luggage.

Givi are expensive, but my local bike shop has managed to get everything I need (so far a fiiting kit, new indicator lens and complete lock set) withing 24 hours of ordering. That type of service you can't fault, and the stuff is very roomy, solid and looks really good on the bike (I think). I was a bit worried it would look oversized on the GS.

Here's a pic of the bike on the way back from a week in Ireland. I'm away with the UK GS lot this weekend, I'll try to get a better pic! But any questions anyone has, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.
