Post by: TragicImage on October 09, 2006, 04:13:48 PM
is this the correct pilot jet???

Does it look right?  I have no idea... the people at the parts place were morons.

and can anyone tell me what the hell the thread pitch is on the screw that is gonna strip out?  You know the one that you replace with allen heads....  Thanks.

I can't seem to find the right words to search....

Nope, those are incorrect.  Those are bleeder type pilot jets.  The little holes along the barrel are the bleed holes, they will make it too rich.  You want to order non-bleeder type pilts jets from Sudco.  Search 'Sudco pilot part' for the part number.

Edt: Or, rather, have them order from Sudco; if they can.

can you explain to me how they're determined to be "Bleeders".... I understand its the holes, but they just allow to much fluid?

I'm confused now, because this post actually says that 2001+ need a bleed pilot.

Get out your wrenches and
Pull your jets out so you can compare them.

My 89 had the nonbleeding type.
They were so clogged when I took them out you couldn't even tell there was a hole in the center.

For the 04-07 I'm sure its one of these type jets you need

Sudco
N224.103 (TMX36)

OEM TMX36

thanks for the part numbers, but that doesn't tell me bleeder or non bleed, or if what I have is right.

and I'm too lazy to pull my tank off to pull a jet to see if what I have is right... just to put it back on to go to work in 7 hours.

If you're really good you could drop one of the bowls and get to the jet without pulling the tank.
course all those fairings may get in the way.
that's why it's usually better to be naked.

I'm pretty sure the pilot for the 2004+ is a bleeder but for the bikes prior to the 3 circuit setup use a non bleeder pilot.

Remind me again why we're putting up with this abuse?  I forget.

Sorry, dude, you got the wrong jets, but it can be fixed. Just put a heavy pair of pliers on them and crimp the ends closed. Make sure it's real tight, you don't want any gas coming out the end, just those holes on the sides. You'll be fine. Any more questions, be sure to ask Srinath.

so uh... does the length look correct?  cause the stock one is WAY longer.
