These are too big to just display on the board...  And I didn't wanna reduce the sizes...

No my man, you are...

Why put a air cooled engine in an enclosure?

So you have an excuse to add an oil cooler?

Fairing was not my first choice either mostly due to style... really the naked bikes look way more badass, street, and urban... but with freeway riding and all-weather conditions here I don't know that I would ever go naked... maybe in socal, but Id at least add a windscreen. The fairing reduces drag (proven to increase top speed, that guy posted his speed tests a couple days go), cushions the bike from impact (in my case it probably saved my frame, and reduced damage to my forks and tank), and doubt it affects the cooling that much.

The SV650 for example looks weird with the top fairing ($500!) but it is there for a purpose... you need some kind of wind protection if you're going to be hauling ass and don't like being buffeted.

dammit now im not sure if i wanna go naked this ran through my mind before but its back again thanks. i wanna go naked cause i like how badass it looks but i wanna have better aerodynamics and i want the wind out of my face well most of it and the fairing force the air to hit the engine due to the design. now im really not sure :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff:

the gs is a baby bike and looks even more so with fairings. GSXR's and CBR's and all the like look great with fairings, yes, but gs' just look dwarfed by them.

my $.02

dwarfed, i dont know. Angular or blockier yes. When I look at my F it says "badass commuter". I'm happy.

Is that reflective rim tape ? I've wondered about putting some of that on mine. Just haven't really worked out a way to make it REALLY flashy. Maybe only tape 1/2 or 1/3 of the wheel so as it spins it's an eye catcher?

Nice looking bike as is, but my preference is the fairing ripped off. :)

I like it. The rim tape especially.

Was it a pain to put on?

looks like an almost stock f-model with reflective tape... I guess it's the tape on the bar ends that makes is so special, eh?

the GS500F is wierd because at some angles it looks sweet but at other it looks like a gs with a big old fat head and little tiny body they didnt make it proportionate.  it looks good with a rider on it , not so great without one.

What's so great about this thing again?  Maybe some decent pictures of the thing in daylight and off the deck could help show whatever you're on about here.

Not really...  You just need some patience  (sp).

ohgood - I'd recommend getting the rimtape from www.tapeworks.com.  It's a little thicker than www.planetsuperbike.com, but it goes with the bike.  A friend of mine got his tape from planetsuperbike for his CBR600rr, and it's about half the size.  At first I liked it, but after looking at it for a couple days, I liked mine better.  Also, he ordered the tape he week before I did, and *I* got mine in before he did.  He had to wait about 3-4 weeks for his order to come in.

Talk to me when you get some clip-ons and fatty-boom-batty white wheels (which are a pain in the ass to keep clean, by the way).  The only thing my old GS was lacking was a black frame.

Dude, whoever re-animated this thread needs to be shot.

BTW I still say that if it is air cooled it should not be in an enclosure. (Using cars as a defense is lame too.. We all know bikes > cages )
