Hey all:
I've been browsing the SVRider website alot in the past few weeks and I got an idea for the GS website. We should have a GS500 of the month. This is a cool part of the SV website that allows riders to show off their customized motorcycles and give other riders some neat ideas. What does everyone think?
Me me me me ... yea ...
Cool.
Srinath.
good idea :thumb:
Cool.
I hope we don't see Knopf's bike every month. Let me be the first to nominate his bike for the first month. It is the sweetest GS I have ever laid eyes on.
Anyway, who will decide which bike is chosen? Voting? Mods? (I question their judgement)
is there a prize? maybe a pair of GStwin decals? What is the meaning of life?
Would it be possible to do a "poll" each month for whoever puts there GS up for voting?
Moderators could maybe run it.

I think a "Panel" of 3 or 5 Judges would be better than a poll. or maybe this "Panel" chooses a few bikes then holds a poll.
In that case there has got to be some sorta prize, At least some GStwin Decals. Or maybe a Random object like in that STUFF magazine.
that'd be fun. Nobody but the prize giver will know what it is, then when the recipient gets it they have to post a pic and let us know what it is.
Am I rambling again? ~sigh~ shaZam! I need a Job where I actually do things.

  i got mine
hahaha that got started on TLP...then SVRider took it up...now just about EVERY site does it...
Wow...good response so far.
I think it should be done as a poll and get its own spot under the 'Main Area' in the GS Message Board Home Page. A panel could work too, but then how would it be decided who is on it.
Moderators, is the 'GS of the Month' thing possible?
well i think what would be better is to have a photo conest.
so lets say the mod picks the first chalange, say it be a picture with a thanksgiving back ground.
the winner picks the next chalange, the next chalange would be to o say include winter in the back ground.
or any thing the winner want to to pick and then so on so forth
Then again...someone has to decide which bikes of the ones that are submitted get to be voted on.
no every one should do it if they can, and then every one vote that way it is not bais
On TLP it's forum nomination. You can't submit your own bike. At the beginning of the month the staff takes in nominations. The last week of the month the staff closes nominations and sets up a poll and the forum vots for the their favorite. The winner is the next months TL of the MOnth. Winners can't be re-submitted for 6 months.
I always thought it'd be cool if the nominations were "purchased"...it cost you $1 to nominate a bike. The winn GS'er gets the nomination fees.
dude were all (well most) on gs500. no one has a 1$ to give up other wise i would have gotten my busa killer
I'd bet my dollar that every one of you guys has a dollar.

That's it! Only purple GS's need apply! :flipoff: :icon_mrgreen:
600rr.net does that by poll. same as Mak says-bikes are nominated, mods/admins determine which are chosen, usually 4 or 5 I think, then general voting goes on all month. forgot what the winner gets besides bragging rights. I was thinking of taking pics of mine in track getup and taking as nasty a picture as I could-sort of an anti-BOTM entry...they also do Poser of the month...thats a funny one...

Sure....if you go to Wally World and buy it! :icon_mrgreen:
Technically do the Bikes have to be completely 100% GS? Not Counting Hop up Parts of Course. :dunno_white: :dunno_white: Lets say 50-75%? :icon_mrgreen:
I wanna see a picture of THAT..was it BORN a GS?
We should also have a GS babe of the month. Purple babes need not apply ... no offence to Pandy ofcourse ... we love our resident purple whore ... You know that ...
Or is that "president pruple ho " whatever ... we love her.
Cool.
Srinath.

here are the 600rr.net BOTM rules, fyi.
Quote from: 600rr.net on November 16, 2006, 10:59:34 PM
Bike of the Month Rules
------------------------------------------------------------
What is Bike of the Month (BOTM)?
Show off that bike you've worked so hard on.
Once a month up to six bikes will be considered by the members who will vote on their favorite by means of public poll.
The voting period will be from the 1st of the month until the 20th of that same month. The bikes are being voted for one month in advance.
Example - On May 1 through May 20 the members will vote on who will be BOTM June. On June 1 through June 20 the members will vote on who will be BOTM July. and so on...
Members are encouraged to "sell" their bikes to other members in the corresponding BOTM thread; Talk about your mods, hard work and other customizations. Posting additional pictures of your bike however is prohibited.
------------------------------------------------------------
Prizes
BOTM winners will receive a unique profile title identifying them as a Bike of the Month winner and which month & year.
Once 12 months have passed and there are 12 BOTM winners they will all be entered in Bike of the Year. Bike of the year winners will receive a unique profile title identifying them as a Bike of the Year winner and perhaps other prizes (to be determined).
Questions about BOTM & BOTY should be directed to LtcOliverNorth.
Good luck and please enter early.
------------------------------------------------------------
How do I enter my bike into BOTM?
Members are encouraged to upload pictures of the bikes to the Photo Album and send the picture URL to LtcOliverNorth (via Private Message). You can also host the picture yourself (i.e.: photobucket, imageshack, etc.) and provide the link via PM. Please provide pictures no smaller than 640x480. Pictures larger than 640x480 will be resized to 640x480.
Pictures many not contain other bikes, people, girls in swimsuits (I know it's a shame), etc. Only 600RRs are accepted as BOTM entries. You must be the current owner of the bike to enter it.
Your picture will be placed in the next available position in the next available month. One photo entry per person (so make it a good one). Replacing/Revising the photo of your bike will not allowed once voting has begun. Posting additional pictures of your bike in the BOTM thread is prohibited.
New entries are always encouraged. If you previously participated in BOTM you cannot resubmit your bike again for the remainder of the calendar year. No purchase necessary.
That sounds like a pretty good rule set. Make sure to save to pics in high quality. I think the profile title thing is a good idea because giving stuff out gets complicated and costs money. Tax write off anyone?

As long as it is still titled as a GS, it should not matter what else was done to it. So basically the frame has to be from a GS. :thumb:
If not, then it may exclude my next bike....which may only have a GS frame and probably a GS gas tank. :icon_twisted:
